Thanks

There was one once but it closed. We on TOTV discussed starting a new LI club and I was going to try to put something together. But because I am a snowbird and am having lots of company over the next few months, I feel I don't have time to spend to get something going. There was lots of interest and a LI club should be successful but unless someone else takes charge, forming one will have to wait until next year. What part of LI are you from, Murfice?

Default Welcome!

i am from deer park!! maybe we could just have a big Long Island party one evening? all it takes is to get a room at a rec center near you, reserve a night and post it on here and maybe in the recreation news! a monthly club is a lot of work and the last club folded because of lack of help, but a one-time party, with everyone bringing pot luck, and maybe some ice breakers for everyone to be forced to mingle, could be a lot of fun....ideas anyone?

From the previous thread about LI clubs, the posts and PM's I received tell me there is much interest. Your idea of one meeting is a lot less troublesome than a monthly commitment. If people agree, I will check with Sterling Heights or Fishhawk Rec Centers and see if we can be given a room near the end of the month. Are we interested. Can I ask for a room big enough to fit 30 people?

A show of hands... Who is interested? I don't want to book a room and be the only person to show up.

IF is a big word. But I believe we will need a large room. I'll look into it before the end of the weekend.

Let's make it an annual event!
(Jericho, Bayville, and out East P/T)

That is a good question... When I approach the rec centers...what day do I try to book? I fear a weekend room might be not available. I suppose an evening meeting is better... A shame The Villages do not have an Eisenhower Park where we could all just gather at either the picnic area or at the stage. It wouldn't matter if twenty people showed up or a hundred. There would be plenty of room.

And yes, this could be a yearly event. I'll keep everyone posted to let you know what is available and when. And like Cha Cha said, once we have a date, we can spread the word. Maybe fellow Long Islander, Billy Joel could stop by and supply the entertainment.
