I have my choice for Christmas.
I know pretty much about each device. I am most interested in first hand knowledge of the full size VS the mini. A part of me looks forward to the screen size of the IPad. Then there is another aspect I like about the mini's smaller size. So I look forward to comments from those who have one or the other or both. And I also look forward to opinions from all. btk |

I have friends who have the larger size ipad, and I hear them complain about how heavy it is. I''m not sure I would be comfortable using it as an ereader. That said, I checked out the ipad mini recently and I didn't find the resolution to be that great as an ereader, but I did like the smaller size. So I'm going to wait until the ipad mini is upgraded with a retina display. If you're looking for a smaller tablet now, the Nook HD has a gorgeous display.

BTK.... I have 2 iPads; the original and the iPad 3. I have played with the mini at the Apple Store and it is a nice device. Although, I personally like the larger iPad for it's larger screen. The larger iPad weighs a little more than 1.50 lbs vs. the .5 lb of the mini. To me, not enough of a difference to well, make a difference.
The latest iPad does have some technical details that I prefer over the mini, like the latest A6 processor & retina display. Here's a link to the technical details (comparison) from Apple: Apple Certainly, if cost is an issue, then the mini is much less costly than it's larger brother. Lastly, it's all about the app's and what you can do with it. To my knowledge, all of the app's work on the mini, same as the larger iPad. My recommendation is to take a 45 minute drive to Mall of Millennia and get your hands on both at the Apple Store. The Apple Store sales people are much like the sales folks in TV...there's no pressure and they will let you browse around and play with the devices all you want. They are all connected to the internet, so you can really give them a workout. Good luck with your choice and let us know what you settle on. Merry Christmas! ....Mike |

I just upgraded from the original iPad to the iPad4. It is not heavy to me. Key is to get the thin over and not a thick one.

I did look at the mini and iPad 4 both. Did a lot of research and side by side comparisons. And almost all articles did the comparisons back to the iPad 2 and 3.
I decided on the iPad 4....there was no way I could get a new toy that went backward, so to speak, in the technology being offered. Or to be more positive there was no way to pass up the advancemsnts in the 4 to have a hand held size. The price of each does cause one to think about it. But I was still convinced the better buy, for me wa sthe iPad4. I have been playing with it most of the afternoon. I am so glad I did not get the smaller unit....even if the technology were even up. The transition from my iPhone was very easy using i Tunes...everything transferred fro the iPhone 100%. I am glad my wife presented me with the problem. We did an early Christmas as we are traveling to Phoenix over the next few days and she wanted me (I think) to have it for the trip. btk |

I went and looked at both side by side..the mini screen is not that small when I put them side by side.. I went to buy the I pad for my wife for xmas, but after seeing the mini I decided to get it for her. I bought a 32 gig and it cost around 495.00 . The knock on the i pad is that is a bit heavy after holding it for a while. Google Cnet and that web sight has reviews on many electronic products.

Full Sized iPad, hands down. The iPad mini is nothing more than a slightly larger iPod touch, which who needs one of those if you have an iPad and/or iPod..
The iPad mini had one purpose.. that was to thwart the launch of Windows 8.. which is a whole other story!
