Just tried to change my NationWide Insurance to Florida to find out they do not insure HOMES in the state. Was also told by the Agent in Leesburg that no insurance company in Florida will cover both home and auto. Can that be.
Please tell me what company y'all use IF YOUR HAPPY with your company that is. Maybe Phone Number and Agent name. Lou & Patti ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I use The Villages Insurance - 753-2280 (SS). Look at the ad in the paper for the office closest to you. They insured my car and house and also have golf cart policies. My policies are through Travelers but it is one stop shipping.

http://www.shopandcomparerates.com/HOCompareRates.htm This is a state run website and is usually up to date. Rates are for a standard size/value house and you use the rates as comparison only. Each county has its own "risk factor". Where insurance companies make their money is on auto insurance, that's why they advertise for auto but not homeowners. The state keeps the companies from gouging homeowners by approving rate increases (e.g. State Farm fiasco). Get a wind mitigation inspection for the best discounts. Company's website will give you agent locations. Travelers Insurance does business in Florida as "First Floridian", a wholly owned company that prevents Travelers from going bankrupt if hurricanes wipe out many of their Florida clients in one year. Good luck. Skip... Last edited by Skip; 04-21-2010 at 11:18 AM. |

We used to also have our Motor Home and Car with Progressive through the Villages Insurance Office until Progressive lost their mind on the Motor Home Insurance. We switched the car and the MH to Geico via on-line and then over the phone. It was an exceptional experience. Warren Buffet owns the company. Excellent customer service. Geico doesn't insure homes in Florida or I would have given them a shot. I did price them for the golf cart and they would only sell liability for it. It's great to have you living in the bubble! we have had State Farm for many years now for home and car. Luckily we are one of the policies that State Farm is not cancelling. But we are shopping still. But great info on the website for insurance.

As others have said, don't believe that agent. Just got our annual renewal for our villa insurance last week, and it didn't even go up in price for the upcoming year, same as last. We use USAA.

The only place I could find to do both auto and homeowners with the same company was AAA. (not to say there are not others) They put the golf cart with Progressive.
Allstate said they could do the same company, but, when they were writing up the contract the homeowners was in fact with another company. Who else does both auto and homeowners under the same company - not a sister company? |
