I try to stay out of book stores. If I didn't have self control we would be penniless. I hate that the future is going to do away with libraries and book stores and books on shelves and on the coffee tables of the world. I love them.
Ditto from me, too. I LOVE books. The feel of holding one, the smell of a new book (and even an old book), and seeing your progress with a bookmark.

I hear you K-9. Although gadgets like Kindle appear to be the future (so was the 8-track) I'd rather spend a few $$$ more and have something more than a piece of plastic in my hand.

Tom:

Me too.

I would be interested in getting your updated version as the stories seem very interesting.

There is something very relaxing about reading a book or for us oldtime puter guys, hard copy. I am not into the new e-book phase and or kindle, etc.

Tom, I would like to read your book. Bring a copy when you come next month and I will give it back to you.
I have to admit, I have a Kindle (the original version...bought it when they first came out) We moved a lot and books do get heavy to move. And yes, truth be known..I love my Kindle. It's nice when you have nothing to read to have a book delivered electronically in less than a minute and I can also read them on my computer or Iphone. Just too convenient to ever go back to regular books.

Sorry Taltarzac--- My middle initial is J (Joseph) This is why my pen name for all future publications will be Tommy Styles. A nickname I acquired from my style and of my unexpected twists. Everyone in the college class would say my stuff is "Tommy Style"

AJ- Good observation- I lost Maggie May last year. My tears haven't dried yet. PS: That picture is 12 years old and maybe I should update my photo but I love the picture. This was also in the author bio in the book.

Have a few pictures like that myself. I will wait for the updated version of the book, I look forward to an autograpohed copy someday.

Tom, this is for your Maggie May; I hope it brings you pleasure:

SPRING DOG

Maggie, my ragged mutt
chases starts
through our soggy spring meadows.
She runs
her nose down
her tail flagging
straight to the woods
then back like a trace of zipper teeth
to the house.
She can smell something
in the earth's blood of thawing snow
that tells her the world is birthing
that young green is somewhere
about to start training
for his summer marathon.

Next time around, I hope to get writing cramps from signing so many books. WE can dream, can't we?

Very nice K-9. Thanks. After I lost Maggie I tried to write an animal story. It was a takeoff of Rainbow Bridge. But I don't have the strength to complete it yet. It is a story about a dog waiting at Rainbow Bridge but its owner never come. A real tear jerker. But hey, have you ever read of a dog story or seen a movie that didn't cause some tears?

I love B&N but to tell the truth, they don't get much money from me. I like to stop by about once a month, after getting a haircut, get a cup of coffee and thumb thru a magazine or two, quite relaxing. Customers like me are not helping their bottom line. Sorry, but I don't buy books, and the magazines I read often I get by subscription.

I am no better than you Shimp. I usually order from Amazon.com and if I buy three books a year at B&N or Borders it is a lot. All of us contribute to the downfall of books as we know them.

Think about the reverse . . . how about an owner who passes first and is waiting for their dog at the bridge?
