I would print that out and file it away for the day I need a new roof.
Me too.

I wonder why SLR hasn’t replied to defend themselves? They appear to be active on the forum.

Another related trane of thought.... is it possible that buying upgraded- longer warranty shingles is not necessary as the insurance companies require replacement before the warranty terms expire. Just an observation.

Why would he/they?
Unsubstantiated personal complaint.
Why feed the trolls with what would be opinion and hearsay.

I have no idea, but it does sound like a good marketing plan for an roofing (or other) company. Hire a sales rep that is a (semi ?) retired villager, it implies without stating it, hey, you are going to be golfing, playing bocci or pickle-ball, going to socials and club meetings with this person, so the potential customer could make the leap to the thought that this is a person you live and socialize with, so safety in that ? I have no idea. but if I had a company, and wanted to really promote trust, sounds to me like being able to say, ---------- company, owned by a villager, etc. etc. That could be an advantage, but it could also mean absolutely nothing ! ?
I agree. And I believe that some customers come off as more friendly than others but as you say...That could mean absolutely nothing. I am very skeptical about all roofers these days. I do hope that folks don't get suckered in. Our insurance fees are higher than kites now.

Brent lives in The Villages to help and support his parents that also live here in The Villages. I hope now your mind is at ease. I am sure once he retires that he too will enjoy all that TV has to offer.

……and be sure to inspect the packaging for the shingles, inspect the nails, count the number of times that nailer hits the roof for each shingle, etc. Just try to insure whatever “contract” you sign (better yet get a spec sheet for them to sign) specifies the product and install method. Seems like most tradesmen like to leave a lot of wiggle room however. .

Thumbs up Skylight Roofing

I had my roof replaced by Skylight Roofing in 2023 and Brent was extremely professional and helpful and I would and have recommended them.

HMMMMM if this isn't a red flag i don't know what is.
He also stated to my husband that he owns 3 houses in the villages and he is easy to get along with, hmmmm again. After talking to a nieghbor that used them, they said once they suck you in to get you to sign the contract thier follow up is terrible.
I don't know why Brent stated he owns 3 houses in the villages and what that has to do with anything?
Beware of them.
I sure im going to get negative post regarding warning people. Its only a warning do what you choose to!

It doesn't take many disaffected customers to negatively affect a business. As Winston Churchill said "a lie can get halfway around the world before Truth can get its pants on". That is not to say that the complaint written about here wasn't real, but it certainly does seem to go against the prevailing wisdom regarding this roofing company.

That said however, I'd NEVER agree to a large job by anyone unless I had a written quote beforehand and an understanding that no payment would be forthcoming until the job was completed. We've had three jobs done and an ongoing service arranged since we moved here that I couldn't do myself, and in each case it was 1) do extensive research on who is the best and most reliable; 2) contact 2-3 vendors from the list and ask for quotes; and 3) get the contracts signed and let them go to work. We've not been disappointed in the least using this process.
