Default Beware of Village Plumber

False Advertising -

I found a water leak over the weekend and couldn't determine the source. Village Plumber advertises on their web site that they "specialize in detecting and repairing leaks promptly to prevent water damage" and "providing 24/7 emergency leak repair services."

I had already called my regular plumber and Mike Scott Plumbing and neither did leak detection so I tried Village Plumber. I left several phone messages beginning early Sunday morning and submitted an online request. They didn't return my calls until Monday morning (so much for 24/7). Then they told me they don't do leak detection and gave me a number for someone who does. I was told to call them back to schedule repairs after the source of the leak was found. When I did that later that day, Village Plumber told me they wouldn't be able to come out to my house for another week to actually fix the active leak.

Needless to say, I went with another plumber to fix my leak and I won't be calling on Village Plumber in the future.

There used to be a company here called leak detection services but apparently they either changed their name or disappeared.

We have used Village Plumber a few times with no issues and will use them again. It is unfortunate you did not have a good experience.

If you need a plumber, Mike Scott Plumbing is a better choice.

I think you are quite lucky that the Village Plumber did not show up. They came out to drain my water heater. Cost me over $250.00 and people tell me it’s an easy do it yourself thing. Be warned!

LOL. Who wants a plumber who will take a week to come to your house to fix a leak?

A poster on another thread said that he was told that they couldn't provide the cost of a service call until they actually come to the house. A plumber should be able to tell you exactly what they will charge to visit your house to look at an issue.

We've used Village Plumber for going on five years now. No complaints: prompt, courteous service. reasonable prices, and they stand behind their work.

The issue described by the OP could likely be attributed to Village Plumber being flooded (no pun intended) with jobs during the time period covered, which IMO is a good thing...I'd be VERY nervous if I called a plumber and he/she said they could be right there.

To me, a plumber who cannot show up for a week is not a good thing. I have used Mike Scott Plumbing 3 times within the past year, and they have always showed up within 2 or 3 hours. It did not make me nervous.

Default The Village Plumber

We've used The Village Plumber twice. Once was an emergency while the other was not. Both times the response was timely and the price was fair. We would definitely use them again. Sorry for your bad experience.

I agree. In this case, they should not have even sent a licensed plumber because you don't need a plumber to drain a water heater. The company should have explained this to the homeowner, and referred them to a handyman.

They are in business to make money so understand why they took the job but does seem to be rather a high price

Default Village Plumber- bad experience

I used Village Plumber and they showed right up, installed a better water shutoff in the garage and everything was just great. Fast forward, I make an appointment to install a new bathroom vanity and faucet. The appointment was made about 10 days in advance, and they were supposed to show up first thing in the morning. Phone call at 9 am, they won't be there by 9 am they are behind (!). Be there by noon. I wait around. No show. I make call after call, they're coming. Keep moving time later. They show up at 8 pm, which by then I had given up and was no longer home. So they are 50-50 in my book, I never called them again. Unreliable.
