Smile Countertop painting professionals needed

Hi everyone, I was hoping someone here would recommend a company or handyman that paints laminate kitchen countertops. I don't want to do them myself for fear of screwing it up. Also someone with reasonable prices. I just had an estimate of $1600. That just seems way too high. I've had my whole house interior painted for less than that but unfortunately they don't do countertops. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I know you are looking for someone to do this....I cannot help you there, but awhile ago I posted some pics here of my countertops that I painted myself. Don't buy the stuff from the big box stores....I got my kit from The Official site of COUNTERTOP PAINT - GianiGranite.com - USA

I was very happy with the results. Cost me like $60.00 to do everything. It was a fun project. I did this because our countertops were "God-awlful Pink". I plan on gutting the kitchen and installing a new one, but I did not want to do this right away...I had a new garage to build first. My wife could not live with the pink, but I did not want to spend big bucks on something I was going to trash in a few years.

I did them about 5 years ago now and they look as good now as they did then.

Here are some pics before and after....

I know I did not help you here, and I apologize if this does not help, but this took me just a couple of days to do.....if you order the kit then find a good person who would like to try it on your countertops, it should cost you well less then your quotes.....

And before anyone asks....yes, I will still honor the promise made to my wife for a new kitchen, just been a bit busy doing inspections.....but she will get her new kitchen soon....lol.

Respectfully, Frank

It's not epoxy gulfingnut just a rip off price. And Frank, I've seen your pictures on another thread when I was searching for painters last week and they look great! You almost have me convinced to do it myself but still going to search for painter or handyman. I just don't trust my art work lol. Thanks for the suggestion though!

No problem.....I understand. If it is any help, this is very forgiving. After you roll on the iron core black primer, you just start sponging the different colors on one at a time. There is no wrong way. Dependent on the ratio of the different colors, the sponging technique, etc you can get different looks. If you hate it, you can just re-roll the black on it and start over. Only after you are pleased with the look, then you roll on the hard, glossy sealer.

Because granite is natural, there is no "wrong look" granite does not look uniform at all, so you cannot make a mistake. Remember, success favors the bold......lol.

I would think that brand new countertops would be less money then what you were quoted from those painter folks....good luck in whatever you decide. Have a wonderful weekend!

Frank

It would be more durable and good as new to have the laminate replaced or covered over. I've done several Formica kitchens and can't believe it would cost that much. Paint could never be as durable as plastic laminate or brand name Formica.
