Driveway Pavers
Has anyone had their concrete driveway removed and replaced with real pavers? Give me the good or the bad. Without frost it seem like they would hold up pretty well. Thanks in advance for any input. Len

I have heard that the only correct way to have pavers is exactly what you describe with the real 4 inch thick pavers, and lots of compacted sand. i will be interested in the replies of people that have actually done this.

These pavers are installed in a sand and gravel bed and can easily be replaced. Thanks for your Input. Len

You might want to check your deed restrictions before you start.

Interesting point, ours specifically state a concrete driveway is a requirement, so removing it to install pavers would definitely require permission.

I think it took 3 days. The contractor wanted to start on a Friday but not work on Saturday but I wanted as little downtime as possible so changed the start by a few days so they could finish the job quickly and on consecutive days. Some pavers have to be cut, this creates A LOT of dust so make sure that this is done away from the house (end of driveway) and that the garage door is closed. The dust blows everywhere. Also ensure that extra (spare) pavers are left. Other than that everything went well. We moved here from Naples and the houses we owned there had pavers so we prefer that look. |

Paragraph 2.8 in the restrictions states that each home must have a poured concrete driveway and a lamp post.

Review Board
I called the Review Board and was told it was completely "LEGAL" to have my driveway removed and replaced with 4in thick pavers. Len

No water - The garage floor steps up about 3/4” and the driveway has a slight slope down to the road. I did not want the pavers sealing, so they have not been sealed. |
