NOTE: do not simply cut a hole in the wall and take the TV power cord through the wall to the outlet, this power cord is NOT rated for inside the wall installation.

You can easily do it yourself with Power Bridge. Check out the videos on how to install.

I took an outlet from the bedroom and ran 12/2 wire to a new outlet in a closet behind the bedroom. I then ran a wire to a box for a light switch from the outlet and put in a 3rd box for a LED light at the top of the wall. Educated DYIer.

I read your post 5 times, but I still don't understand what you did or how it relates to installing a television.

You might want to check, when I added a ceiling fan in the kitchen I was required to get a permit and have 2 inspections, rough and finish, Sumter County, insurance companies will use any excuse to deny a claim.

Putting lighting and outlets on the same circuit is generally something to avoid if possible although its done commonly in remodels for convenience. |

My point was that all you need is to put a hole in the wall for an outlet and run a wire from the existing outlet to the new.

Sometimes that can be a lot of work depending on the locations. I know this from lots of electrical projects under my belt.

I was thinking about installing an elevated outlet at the rear of the TV but changed my mind. When we bought our house in TV and went to Best Buy for a TV the sales guy asked if we were full time residing in Florida or not. We are not, at least not yet that is. He advised unplugging the TV when we head north since Florida is the " Lightning capital of the world" as a preventative measure. So I leave the wire and plug down low so it's easy to see and remember to unplug when we leave. Small effort for the peace of mind
