Wiring a Bose Stereo System
I'm installing a Bose surround system (ceiling and wall mounted speakers) and need someone to run all the wiring through the attic and walls.
Anyone had this type of work done? Any recommendations on who to use ? Thanks.... Mike |

TH.... Is there something special about the Bose system that the installer would need to know ahead of time? I guess I thought they would only need to run speaker wires and mount the speakers.
I have no experience with this speaker type, so any info. appreciated! |

All someone needs to know is that u want to run wiring for a music system. It could be Bose, Jansen, Yamaha or any other one. it makes no difference. The installation is a breeze. Getting the wiring thru the wall is the challange.

The day we walked into our new house, I looked at the wires hanging from the ceiling and it was clear that they had "daisychained" the wires. I pointed it out to the job superintendent and he said, "Oh we thought you were putting in Bose speakers like everybody else. I said "no", and he had the subcontractor come back and pull all of the wires out of the walls, the ceiling and control boxes and put in two pairs as I had originally asked. I have been working with audio systems all of my life (all of my life) and was not aware that Bose uses a different wiring system. Apparently they do. I guess they run the speakers in series rather than parallel. JLK |

You might call Awesome Home Theater in Eustis (352) 589-7012. We visited their store and were very impressed with their knowledge. (of course, we started from zero knowledge, as in "what is blu-ray?") They sell Yamaha (don't know if they deal in Bose). At any rate they seemed confident about navigating in the attic and installing speakers. My husband was mostly concerned that the blown-in insulation would be squashed, but they assured him they know how to do the work without harming it.
Since this house came with an electrician, he figures he can do the job himself. Has already bought the plywood to build a walkway to access different areas of the attic and is waiting for just the right climate up there to be comfortable. |
