I have a friend who told me yesterday that there is going to be a BLM protest march in her town in the northern Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania today (30 minutes from Allentown). She was excited about it and planning to march, but worried because people opposed to the march have promised to be there, armed. Why a march? Her town has under 3,000 people. There are no African-Americans living there. She hasn’t heard of any police brutality there. The town votes 95% red. That suggests that the BLM marchers are doing this in hope of starting a confrontation that will turn violent and make the news and cause a lot of bad publicity for those opposed. I begged her to stay home, and maybe she will. This is so sad to see.

So I found these comments by Robert Johnson, founder of BET and America's first black billionaire interesting.

“Look, the people who are basically tearing down statues, trying to make a statement are basically borderline anarchists, the way I look at it,” Johnson told Fox News on Wednesday. “They really have no agenda other than the idea we’re going to topple a statue.”

“It’s not going to give a kid whose parents can’t afford college money to go to college. It’s not going to close the labor gap between what white workers are paid and what black workers are paid. And it’s not going to take people off welfare or food stamps,” Johnson insisted.

He insisted that the rioters tearing down statues “have the mistaken assumption that black people are sitting around cheering for them saying, ‘Oh, my God, look at these white people. They’re doing something so important to us. They’re taking down the statue of a Civil War general who fought for the South.'”

“You know, black people, in my opinion, black people laugh at white people who do this the same way we laugh at white people who say we got to take off the TV shows."

Robert Johnson also supports trillions in reparations for slavery, something I don't agree with. But there's no law that says I have to agree with everything someone thinks or says. There's only one person I agree with 100% of the time.

I have also seen numerous reports that the families/descendants of many of the former women who portrayed Aunt Jemima are furious about the rebranding. They feel their family history is being erased and say these women were not slaves and enjoyed their nicely paying jobs. Google it if you care to read the reports. I also searched for families of former Aunt Jemimas support rebranding efforts, couldn't find any. If you search that, all you get are reports of them mad about the rebranding.
Make Aunt Jemima, White and see the PROTEST!!!

Because they are statues of people who attacked the USA. Are there statues of Hitler in Germany?

Crazy it’s not white people it’s whichever network you’re watching ...who has been destroying businesses all over this country burning businesses, attacking owners shooting killing destroying lives but their lives didn’t matter. They were black and white. All of them should pay to repair all of the carnage

I think his opinions on cancel culture and statue toppling are correct in that it is driven by white's mostly.
He personifies the American dream. That takes smarts, hard work, and LUCK. He has credibility!

Civil war deaths were about 700,000. Population then was 31,443,322. That's 2.2%.
2.2% of today's population would be 7.7 million people. That's a lot!

I have mixed feelings about Johnson. He has also said he wants reparations payments. My ancestors all came here AFTER the Civil War, none ever owned or condoned slaves or slavery. There was such abhorrence of slavery in this country 160 years ago that those who opposed it banded together and took the reins of power in America from those who supported slavery. And when those same supporters seceded from the Union we fought a bloody war to end slavery and did so.We have provided program after program to raise up the downtrodden since then and still do.

A hand up most certainly. But never a hand out.

What does Hitler have to do with America? Did Columbus attack the U.S.A?

1. The "USA" didn't exist in Columbus' time.

2. Even if it did, Columbus never set foot...on what is now US soil.

This is the guy who had a funeral fitting for a dignitary or Royalty. How absolutely ludicrous.

And over 300,000 were Union soldiers, who gave their lives to defeat the confederates and free the slaves.

Let's see. The leadership of the Confederacy, including the senior military officers, all served the Union prior to the Civil War. Could it be that they read the Declaration of Independence, and read that our forefathers said it was right for the people to change what they perceived as a bad government? Okay, they lost the war. They seem to have exercised their rights, and after the war, apparently were good citizens. So erase them from history because of a four year period?
The people who are taking down these statues are anarchists who only act on their own narrow beliefs. Who knows what those beliefs will be next week? What's next?
