Sadly, hate is a primitive, MINDLESS, and yet powerful emotion. I am glad that I do not have to make the decisions. Any decision, no matter what it is will receive biased objections claimed to be based on fact.

Shots for illegals? Not at all hard to get SCREAMING. Yet, do you want a person infected with covid serving you food, harvesting your food, mixing with you at the rec center.

The solutions will not be easy or inexpensive. Consumed with HATE, we are a mindless mob.

No, I don't want them here in the first place. Why should they jump the immigration line over those that have been waiting years to come legally. And now apparently they can jump the vaccine line as well. Enough is enough, send them all back to where they came from, we cannot solve all the world's problems and support all the world's population. The US has been more than generous with it's legal immigration policies, those who cross illegally are FELONS, and should be dealt with as such

All this fake news. Why shouldn't Florida residents be FIRST?

I'm still not liking it and disagree.

There are a LOT of Floridians here who are NOT US citizens. They come from Canada, or the UK, South America, Cuba, Italy, India, Japan, etc. etc. etc. They RESIDE here part of the year, but maintain the citizenship of whatever country they come from, and return "home" for the other part of the year.

If the vaccine becomes available when they are eligible to receive it, they need to get it then, no matter where they are when that happens. Anyone who RESIDES in Florida when they are eligible for an available COVID vaccine, whether they are citizens or not, should be allowed to get one.

Shouldn't people who have not received the first shot be before those who get second shots? Something is wrong

That is now while there is a shortage of vaccine. NON-US citizens were being vaccinated while there was stock of vaccine available. If the policy stays the way it is now, foreigners will be coming to Florida once again when the vaccine is available.

I totally agree. I know people in Canada are coming over to get vaccinated. It's unconscionable as far as I'm concerned.

I’m fine with Canadians coming to Florida. They spend money. Just don’t take vaccines that belong to Americans. Canadians can get their vaccines when they go back home.

Second shots MUST be given BEFORE anyone gets their first shot. Efficacy percentage depends on the second shot administered within a given time frame. Out of that time frame and the efficacy is unknown.

Apparently the Canadian govt never got around to ordering more than a handful of doses.

This is why Florida is short on the vaccines for their own residents. We should not allow people from other countries or states to come here for their vaccines. Florida is a large state with many senior citizens and we need to develop some kind of system in order to distribute the vaccine to its residents. Perhaps we can go county by county. I live in The Villages, perhaps we can get the vaccine village by village. Of course, those with medical conditions, medical personnel, first responders and our seniors should have priority. Governor DeSantis is working very hard to make sure we get the vaccines, but he cannot control how quickly the vaccine is made.

Florida’s Covid-19 Vaccines Draw Foreigners, Snowbirds - WSJ
It was obvious from the very beginning that after the vaccines were produced in limited numbers that vaccine distribution was going to be fraught with corruption, confusion, chaos, and inefficiency - this only encouraged various people to attempt to "game the system". States made up different rules deviating from the CDC. Florida had no solid, unifying message about how the vaccines were to be distributed. Florida threw the responsibility to the counties, which were unprepared. Some tried and failed to come up with a useable registration system. Some tried to do a "first come, first served system", which had frustrated and eager Floridians driving for 50 to 100 miles to some other county to just wind up empty. Overall, it was a "cluster" distribution. It is kind of sad that America, a county known for and having pride in its ability to innovate, has come up so empty of ideas for vaccine distribution.

........Florida can come up with a Lottery system that DISTRIBUTES prizes and money by CHANCE - which seems to work and satisfy everyone. The vaccines are a limited FREE good that have huge DEMAND - so how can you bring equilibrium to that economic supply and demand problem? - you NEED a mathematical, fair system of chance that would come close to pleasing everyone. Math and Science run the Florida Lottery system, why not turn some math professors toward the problem of FAIRNESS of CHANCE in vaccine distribution. Florida has already decided to work on distributing the vaccine to the over 65 age group - just use math and science and not STUPIDITY like "first come, first served".

That's a lot of empathy, more than I can muster up. Also, Florida may have been motivated by greed. The more snowbirds, out of staters, and "foreigners" that come here - the more money they spend - and more state sales tax is collected. The health of Florida year-round residents be damned!

Some subset of situations will always be "unfair". The trick is to NOT passively accept that ALL situations are "unfair".

Doctor, perhaps when you type in ALL CAPS at least you might wish to double check your information to see if you are WRONG. I wonder what news sources might have led you to believe that illegal entry was a felony.

Entering the US illegally is a misdemeanor not a felony. While some segments of our population see undocumented aliens as right up there with rapists, the overwhelming majority are just trying to make their lives better, like my grandfather who came here when anyone with $1 and a sponsor was allowed in. Lots of real Americans didn't want people like my grandfather here, the unwashed uneducated poor non-WASP kind of people. And that generation of immigrants made America Great.

The law is called illegal entry, and it makes unauthorized border crossings a crime. The law specifically bars entry into the U.S. at places other than through ports of entry, like an airport or bridge on the U.S.-Mexican border. A violation of the law, also known as Section 1325, is a misdemeanor with a penalty of six months in prison,
