What I have learned is:

that in many ways we are not in this fight against Covid together. Some of us are more vulnerable to getting the disease and suffering its complications. Yet when the vulnerable get sick, we all become more vulnerable. This pandemic shows us that we are all interconnected. How we approach the health and well-being of the vulnerable in our community will have consequences for all of us.

I have learned just how important it is to look out for each other.

Thank you, Velvet, you said that perfectly. I feel the same way.

I am an elder-boomer, which means I have been around to see most of the last half of the 20th Century, and now the first 20 years into the 21st Century, and I have never seen anything like the mess we are in now.

Never have we been more connected (in the raw terms of technology) and yet, we are more disconnected than I ever thought possible.

On another note — I have learned that I miss smiling at others — friends and strangers, too. I can smile under my mask, of course, and I am saving a fortune on Crest White Strips. But, damn, my smile is my best feature. (It used to be my legs — but (sigh) that ship has sailed.)
