Jesus said you will know a tree by its fruit. If a man calls himself a Christian but his fruit is bad (love, joy, peace, goodness, kindness, etc) then he most likely is not a Christian no matter what he calls himself.

We should NOT let these "professing Christians" get in the way of going to worship with a local body of believers. We are commanded to do that. There is NO such thing as a lone ranger Christian.

If everyone would stop talking about being a Christian for just a second and donate to UNICEF or the Red Cross, perhaps we can help get some rice to the people starving in the Philippines after the Typhoon. Please help!!!

I bought a Thanksgiving dinner for a local needy family but I didn't do it to get into Heaven.

Working for God does not pay much, but His retirement plan is out of this world.

Close your Bible and open your mind. Call me a plagiarist, but I must remember and use that line. So many well meaning folks get caught up so deep in the printed word, they confuse the intended message. Best one liner I have read in years.

You don't need to enter a building to find God. But sometimes you see God in others there.

Very true Gracie. I think my point has came out in this thread. There is no doubt that true believers have the best intentions. It is those that claim to be a follower of their higher power, but only by mouth and not by their actions. There is a sad day coming for the false people. Some think they can do and say whatever they want as long as they confess and accept Jesus before they die. They fail to realize confessing and accepting in the last moments of life is worthless if you TRUELY do not have that belief in your heart and soul. Big difference in saying and believing. It takes time and practice to be a true believer.

Christians aren't perfect but forgiving. Phillipians says, that I have run the good race knowing I am not perfect but falling short of the glory of GOD, (paraphrased).

I belonged to a church of true believers, and became disenchanted because they would correct my views, and then do something horrible. One guy wwho was an elder, told me I wasn't interpreting a passage in the bible correctly, and his wife was an agnostic. Another woman scolded me one day for something minor, and she was sleeping with half of the congregation. Go figure.

How can one live like that and not know they are only giving lip service to GOD.

I think we all try to be best we can, but we are all sinners, and need GOD's salvation.

Yes, I understand your feelings about those that are in the church and will say & do things contrary to Christ's teachings. I've seen it also. I learned a very good lesson yrs ago, that as Christians we need to stop looking and listening to people and keep our eyes, ears, hearts and minds "stayed on God", read the Bible daily, and stay in constant prayer. With the help of the Holy Spirit, I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. :-) (there's alot of wolves in sheeps clothing in churches so those who are truly seeking God's will in their lives, must be very discerning)

From the Bk of Solipsy Verses 62 - 65

62 I, an Invisible Giant Floating Glob of Sauce-Covered Noodles and Round Meat, have no need for your money or resources, BUT, your fellow humans do. 63 I appreciate your love and praise and such, but lots of people right around your immediate vicinity need your love and worldy resouces a whole lot more. 64 Don’t be so idiotic as to throw your money at people who live in mansions and beseech thee for thy cash, and speak as if endowed with authority from other giant, invisible thingees. 65 Come on, people. 66 Wise up, say I, Your Holy Boiled Grain-Based Nutritious One. Ramen

I somehow don't feel gently consoled.

Religion and praise have been used by humans since the dawn of the most basic civilization.

We need to do good and keep our minds on good. We are interconnected.

We may not worship alike and we may not worship.

But we are interconnected, and need each other. Kindly. Respectfully.
