The courthouse is in Bushnell, about 15 miles south of TV. We went on Monday. Turns out it's for Grand Jury which can run up to 6 months. When he came out, Mike was smiling and says that the Judge asked is there any reason why you cannot serve? He tells the judge about my recent medical bouts and my imminent hip surgery -- the judge says "What do you want me to do?" Mike politely says "That's up to you, your Honor". The judge says "well I can see that you really want to serve and I commend you for that. But given your wife's medical conditions, you are dismissed".

As they say in Ohio, Boy Howdy! Nothing like this ever happens to me!
I'm NOTHING but happy that things went your way. I'll bet you a Nickel the cases would have been a little different than from our Old Hometowns.

Down here it would have been Line Dancer, Dog Stuff, breaking curfew at the square, Hotwiring a John Deere tractor, Stealing a Steer. You know different.

I still want that bed from Hampton Inn from when we went to Jersey, damn thing blew off the roof coming home, Damn. It was the most comfortable bed I ever slept on. Zero aches and pains when I got up. Hampton Inn has their own bedding store online. Big Buckaroonies!
Never heard of them but now I learned something new. As for the mattress I can be cheap with a lot of things but NOTHING that concerns my back. It's the only one I will ever have and I will pay whatever is necessary to take care of it.

I have had six Jury Duty notifications. Three of these were from the Bushnell Court. I received two acceptances for excusal requests and in 2014 the defendant pled guilty after we were in the Jury Duty room for most of the morning. It was a potential 16 week vehicular homicide case according to the judge. I would have been dismissed with cause though more than likely as soon as I started to talk about my extensive interactions with the legal system because of my victim/survivor advocacy stemming out of the 2-24-1976 (2-24 is my birthday) Michelle Mitchell murder near the University of Nevada, Reno and not for NOTHING.

I did tell the Bushnell Clerk of Court about this work in 2018 when I had had another Jury Duty Summons around July 2018.

I usually got bumped off Jury Duty as soon as I said I have a law degree.

230, 996 views as of 9:00 AM EST. 1/30/2019 of the NOTHING thread. Hope Abby is OK?

Got through six seasons now of Game of Thrones. Really an exciting series with all kinds of action and characters you love to hate. Will get to the seventh soon but need to double check some movies for the details I saw in them when I watched them in the movie theater. Most movies I only see once in theaters. Only an occasion one pulls me in twice like The Greatest Showman. The Greatest Showman (2017) - Rotten Tomatoes

In the 17 years we've been in WA I've been NOTHING but lucky so far. I've only been summoned twice and both times I was able to get excused using the questionnaire alone. Didn't even have to report.
Mrs. K on the other hand seems to get called about every other year. lol

When we lived in the bay area I ended up on a 5 week long capital murder case. After that I do everything in my power to get excused.

How could they ever place the fate of someone's future on someone who doesn't like bacon or pie crust. Makes NOTHING but perfect sense to me..

I've served as a Juror plenty of times. One of the old-time guards at the Courthouse said to me once, Don't they have anybody else they could call? I liked doing it. I didn't like having any income for whatever time it took.

Send 'em up the river, Nucky! Just kidding mostly slip & fall & car accident type cases. It was a long way from the parking garage to the Courtroom. All worth it.

Here in Florida the jury duty pay is nothing less than $15.00 per day for the first 3 days and then a whopping $30.00 per day for each day thereafter.

Supposedly, you get reimbursed for gas used getting to the court house. I had Federal Jury Duty in Ocala and they also gave us money for car use. This was in 2009 or around there. I got challenged by the Judge as I was giving very short answers and not for NOTHING. It would take me a very long time to go over everything.

The Sonoma Courty DA representative challenged me for some reason around 1994 in a drug bust case but left a lady lawyer from San Francisco on the panel up to the point I left. The judge acknowledged seeing me around the law library in Santa Rosa as I had been examining their library collection from the perspective of a survivor/victim of crime trying to see what his or her rights were as well as what kind of local services were in or around Sonoma County.

Also did the same for the law library in Clearwater, FL for the Pinellas County Court. The judge knocked me out of the jury pool as soon as I said I had a law degree. This was around 2003.

They did not seem to allow people even to walk around in the Bushnell Sumter Court building that I recall. I have no idea if they even have a law library there?
