Jumble - Houston Chronicle
Pounce. Digit. Casing. Strum. They were struming Napoleon's song when they needed a replacement for an artillery commander at Toulon to fend off the British and their allies. Napoleon pounced on this opportunity and made of most of it. http://www.napoleon-series.org/resea...rchapter4.html A thigh wound and an earlier scabies infection he picked up while fighting at Toulon may explain why he often had his digits in his coat or within some other casing so that he could scratch . http://jonathangifford.com/napoleon-...ege-of-toulon/ |

Paul François Jean Nicolas, vicomte de Barras - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bonaparte patched himself with various politicians-- some of whom who would make a Machiavellian evil schemer blush-- like Paul Francois de Barras. De Barras would soon have a chorus of detractors but not before rising to even higher status and helping Napoleon draft his own future in many ways. 13 Vendémiaire - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia De Barras's mistress--or one of them-- was Josephine de Beauharnais who would become Bonaparte's first wife. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jos%C3%...de_Beauharnais If you played a game against Napoleon Bonaparte in some arcade, you would have to thank de Barras for giving Napoleon the reins he took to win the power he would soon have--at de Barras' expense after they no longer saw eye-to-eye. There would probably not be a world dominating ruler in these arcade games without the help de Barras gave Bonaparte's career. |

Glen Campbell - Bonapartes Retreat.wmv - YouTube
Not sure if this reference to a song for fiddles has a hidden meaning or not, but you sure find references to Napoleon Bonaparte in strange places. Very few of these places are bland. I needed to shove something in for today as I read more about Napoleon Bonaparte's return to Italy after his victory at Toulon. More about the fiddle and Napoleon's Retreat-- http://youtu.be/bvwxEOoF1UM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timelin...Napoleonic_era |

Pierre-Simon Laplace - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Napoleon made a small splash in the history of science with his support of the astronomer Pierre Laplace whom he made Minister of the Interior. He only lasted six weeks in the position however probably because Napoleon needed a very respected star in his cabinet to brighten the image of his government. It got rather smoggy after Napoleon replaced mathematician Laplace with one of his many brothers. Laplace did some interesting work on the orbits of the moon and earth.
