Angry Landscaping Trees & More...BEWARE

I hate to give any company a slap, but, this time I feel an obligation to let my neighbors know.

I move into my new house in Pennecamp in December, having lived in Liberty Park for 4 years. Was approached by Landscaping Trees & More for an estimate. I asked the lady owner to wait until I had a pool/spa and birdcage completed and we would act in April. Her son plead the case that they had little work to do at that time and suggested that they would give me a good price to get to work in the front lawn and come back later for the back. Done.

The work they did was unsatisfactory...border stepping stones not color requested, mulch not color requested, border was incomplete and they did not deliver 3 weeping bottle brush trees contracted for. The lady owner told me that the current stock of weeping bottle brush trees were not to her satisfaction and she would come back in 3 weeks with the nice looking, healthy trees.

This was in January. Since then, numerous phone calls made, messages left and no trees and no borders completed. A neighbor close by has now let me know that she has had the same problems....then another neighbor gave me the same sob story.

I would recommend that no one contract with Landscaping Trees & More.

Thanks for the info. That's what I like about TOTV, we can get info about companies that aren't available anywhere else.

Angry Warning

I have lived happily in TV since Oct. '07 and have been reading TOTV for about 1 year. Joined recently to WARN about a landscaping company. Debbie Dodd (and 3 sons) DBA as LANDSCAPING TREES & MORE. I previously filed a complaint with BBB and Seniors vs. Crime. Now, after months of deception and lies, I'm in the process of filing a claim in court and will sue for the amount owed plus damages. More info to follow if requested.

I don't know for sure but I strongly suspect someone (maybe several someones) violated a cardinal rule of dealing with landscapers in The Villages - NEVER PAY UP FRONT! Pay when the job is done to your satisfaction. If YOU still hold the money, they will be back to finish the job correctly. If not, you can afford to get someone else to do it right.

The April issue of the VHA newsletter has an excellent article on how to deal with landscapers and lawn care services. I suggest you give it a read. You can see it at:

AMERICAN COOT......I would like to know more about your efforts to take this to the sheriff under Seniors vs Crime and your attempts in court. I think that I can get at least 4 more homeowners to go along with you.

And Bryan, thanks for your very sage advice. You are a real gem for remonstrating us. Cardinal rule #1, until you are aware of the circumstances, especially when someone has been agrieved...."please keep your wonderful and constructive advice to yourself". No offense taken....no offense meant.

Grill, I'd like to think that Bryan's comments were more for those who are thinking of paying monies in advance than for those who have already done so. It is a good reminder. Sadly, you had to find out the hard way.

It does sound like your circumstances make Seniors against Crime a good avenue for you to pursue.

Sorry it happened to you and thank you for the head's up.

P.S. Since you're a grill master, when's the bbq? I make a mean sauce. lol
