I asked my rheumatologist about this and was told it's great for inflammation and she said to go ahead and use it. She also recommended coconut water (found at your local grocery stores). Back to the coconut oil...it's great for cooking too. Put a tsp on your cooked veggies while heating and it will give a great flavor...or on your morning oatmeal b/4 you cook it.

In summary there is no medical reference to support the claim. The claim is made by a person who is sellling a book to promote the claim. The author has a personal interest in the subject as her spouse has dementia which means she is personally invested in hoping the treatment works. While none of that means that there is no reason to refuse to try it, as with many nutritional miracle cures, take it with a large spoonful of skepticism.
I personally get an okay feeling from the Snopes article, especially the last paragraph. As I said, I put it on the forum as an informational piece. (okay, I'll be the little ray of sunshine - someone else can be the dark cloud) There was no scientific reference to support the claim that the earth was roundish, but our hero Chris Columbus didn't stay home!

I've heard back from a few of those that I sent this to and they have indicated that they had been familiar with the values of coconut oil and are in some kind of regiment with it.

Today I heard back from a friend whose husband is in full-blown Alzheimer's. She said that she started using the coconut oil two weeks ago and has noticed at least one of the newer behaviors completely reverse itself. She's not expecting miracles, he's beyond that point, I'm sure. She does see improvements and will continue using it.

I hope you find it interesting and just maybe of value. Here's the link: CLICK HERE

Default coconut oil

At the end of it all, it's calories in/calories out. How much food do I have to give up to equal three tablespoons of coconut oil a day? It's a fat. Three tablespoons of fat is a lot to add to your diet, even if it's healthy fat.

I have been buying this to mix in my dogs' food for several months. It smells amazing! I guess I'll start ingesting some myself.

I have been using it for My Mom & I...I do see a difference in her memory. It makes my food tasty. I have been rubbing it on my skin also. I think it works, I found it at winn dixi for about $5 where every where esle is more. I put the jar in a warm place and it is not solid anymore. Works great for many uses!!

Default Oil pulling?

What is oil pulling?

The coconut oil takes longer to heat up and therefore stays "intact" while cooking, whereas the olive oil "burns" easily and therefore is altered in the cooking process. I think that you may have been confused palm oil with coconut, and palm oil is to be avoided. If you look up the benefits of coconut oil, you will be surprised how healthy it is for you. I even do my eggs in it if I am frying them.

The only other oil I keep on hand is roasted sesame oil for steaming fish, chinese style with ginger. And I do oil pulling daily with plain sesame oil to keep myself as healthy as I can and free of pathogens - an ayurvedic practice that really works! Google it, if you want. It is really easy and something anyone can do to help themselves get healthier and stay healthier.

...more than likely one "teaspoon" daily is enough....

........The purveyor of the product would LIKE us to use 3 TABLESPOONS per day.

I use ONE TEAspoon ......3 times per day.......after One Month.....I can now go into the garage and usually KNOW why the heck I'm out there.....
...or it could be the placebo effect.....or maybe even the note pad I now carry with me. Who knows! ?

Since there are 3 teaspoons in 1 Tablespoon that is only 42 Calories per teaspoon. (or 126 calories per day)

Coconut oil is good for you and palm oil is bad. I believe coconuts come from coconut palms so how does that compute?
