I started with the single J&J shot. Then, 2 Moderna boosters. Two weeks after the second booster I developed blood clots in my leg (DVT) and clots in my lungs (PE). Docs thinks the second booster did me in. NO MORE SHOTS for ME!

We had both covid shots, 2 boosters, went on a 12 day cruise from Honolulu to Papeete and got covid on the trip. Everyone had to show proof of vaccine and a negative test to board the ship BUT people were on unmasked planes, doing other sight seeing etc and mixing around on excursions. We were each quarantined for 5 to 6 days in our room, and not allowed to disembark in Papeete along with about 100 others who were still sick. The 12 day cruise turned into a 26 day adventure. We just got our third booster without hesitation. We have another cruise in Oct and New Zealand in January. Not worth having your trip spoiled so do everything to minimize the possibility.

It is the best unless you do not have natural immunity. And other than getting the virus and overcoming it how do you get it? The answer is you do not have it.

A few weeks back I began reading on the internet of blood clots being caused by the COVID vaccine. It began in a curious way: I had been reading about some embalmers finding such clots in the veins of their "subjects"; clots of a never-before-seen kind, more like long earthworms. It is undeniable though that the J & J vaccine has been linked to blood clots; in fact the vaccine was paused for a time, as I understand it, for just this reason. It is available again but only, according to the CDC "in some situations", though it did not specify, as I read the article, just what those "situations" are. ("Overview of COVID 19 vaccines" August 24, 2022. CDC website) Novant Health (online) had a good article on this dated June 22, 2022. This, quoted from the article: (Dr. Asif Wahid, Novant Health Cardiology) "Can COVID-19 cause blood clots? Yes. Research is currently underway to investigate how COVID can affect the blood. Some COVID patients have developed blood clots in multiple places throughout the body, and patients that have diabetes or high blood pressure are at a higher risk. We believe this clotting is caused by increased levels of inflammation in the body. As a result, patients are at a higher risk for heart attack, stroke and organ damage. In children, this condition is called multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C), and can damage the heart to such an extent that some children will need lifelong monitoring." However in my more recent reading there does not appear to be any differentiation in just what type of vaccine is linked to the most recent kind of clots. There are, however, a plethora of articles on the 'net, both pro and con, that discusses this, with of course the usual amount of vitriol. There will never be 100% agreement on any medical procedure or treatment. I understand that. Regarding COVID vaccines I've seen (for example) Dr. Smith, an eminently qualified virologist, throw his unqualified support behind the COVID vaccines while Dr. Jones, equally eminently qualified, as much as calls Dr. Smith an uninformed quack. However noble the original intent to inform may have been, the EFFECT is more often than not to generate clicks rather than to inform. For myself, I am in excellent health despite the fact that my warranty expired near 5 years ago now and I've decided to rely on my health, activity level and positive outlook to get me through any COVID that comes my way, and not risk complications by getting a booster that in my opinion is not warranted. I've already had COVID once and that course of action seemed to work very well for me--not very sick at all. In any event, the very fact that information DOES exist linking COVID - 19 vaccines to clots boils this entire discussion down to a personal decision, and hopefully we can respect that in one another. Not going to the hospital.
Not being put on a ventilator. Not being on a death bed ALONE seeing family on iphone. Dying. Which are all very meaningful for the 80+++ crowd. To each their own beliefs/comforts.......no disparaging of others opinions needed/required!!! |
