If you don't find an option - message me. I'll drive him. Paying it forward...

There is MD Anderson in Jacksonville, it’s where I go for my treatments.

Hi Grace. Does your husband also offer transportation from The Villages to Orlando Airport? Thanks. Ellie

I am overwhelmed by the kindness and information I have received, you have all restored my faith in human nature.

We are hoping there is a doctor who can treat him at either Mayo or Shands. He has an extremely rare blood infection - his own blood kills his own red blood cells, only two people in 100,000 get this. I know there is help at Mass General, but it would be great to find a medical facility in our area that could treat his problem - I live in hope.

Sending you arms of support during this stressful time. Hopefully your NH doctor has a connection that will work for now in TV and perhaps some of your family can fly here to be supportive as you work through the details. That was a really great recommendation and yes there are so many good people here in TV. 💞

My sister in law had bleeding from a kidney with a large tumor and my brother in law used the car train to transport her so she could lay down. I know it goes to D.C but not sure if it goes further than that. Hope all goes well for you.

My husband became very Ill suddenly last year. I was able to get ambulance transport with an RN from Ocala to Philadelphia for $6500.00. We used Hurricane transport in Ocala. Prayers for you and your husband.

If you search Medical Transport Services on the computer, you will find companies that will “drive” you to New Hampshire (or elsewhere) in a customized Mercedes Benz customized transport vehicle. The vehicles include an extra driver allowing them to drive all night, some offer a nurse if needed, and include other options. You can call for price quote. While it is not cheap, it is much less expensive than the flying-ambulance services.

If it’s cancer related, consider Moffit! One of the top Cancer Care Centers in the country. It’s actually better qualified for cancer treatment than Shane’s or Mayo Clinic!

I was in a similar situation 12 years ago when we lived in the Naples area. My husband was too sick for a commercial flight. My stepson arranged for a small medical flight out of Page Field in Ft. Myers to fly us back to Philly where we had a hospital bed waiting. It's very expensive but we were blessed to have family to help us. God bless!

If his illness is cancer related, you might also consider Moffitt in Tampa.

Just FYI, my cousin became dreadfully ill in London. When he was stable enough he was flown home to Strong Memorial in Rochester NY. It cost $500,000.

Madelaine,

We were in a situation like this with a family member 10 years ago and had checked on medical air transport— but then things changed, so it never happened.

I hope you will check on this possibility if you feel like getting back to the needed medical help, surrounded by family, would be the best thing to do.

I am not sure, but I think you would be able to fly with him and also there would be a medical person with you.

It is not inexpensive, but I hope you will look into it. They should be able to land and pick you up at Ocala or Leesburg.

I am so sorry you and yours are going through this.

Boomer

PS: I am sending you a PM.
