I've had a kidney stone. Very painful. Got a morphine drip, passed it in the ER.

Moral of this story - Plan in advance of which ER you would go to in the event of needing immediate attention. If you are able to drive, or have someone else drive you, it may be to your benefit to drive an extra few miles to be treated at an ER that has better outcomes than some of those mentioned here in this thread.

I have accompanied and visited several Villagers at ER’s in this area. I have learned which ones to avoid if I ever needed to be treated myself.

Default Flowmax helps

If your doctor didn't prescribe Flowmax, ask. It will help increase the passage way from the Kidney to the Bladder. Drink plenty of water as suggested. First one was my worst for pain.

Thx for sharing. I have heard from two other people that the 466A ER is very good.

What is Villages ER, did you mean UF Spanish Plains or UF ER at Brownwood?

Default Emergency Care

Been there, done that. I have spent enough time in the local hospital's ER. I have found an excellent group of medical physicians and am very pleased with their handling and attention. Try this group the next time you suffer:

American Urgent Care & Walk-in Clinics
601 Gray Avenue

We will be moving to TV in a couple of weeks. What is the name of the 466a ER?

That's actually a bit frightening. Renal calculus is not a difficult diagnosis at all, just the groin pain alone puts it near the top of a short list of possibilities. Did they collect urine to look for microscopic hematuria? Did they do an abdominal flat plate to see if there was a radiopaque stone? Did they consider a spiral CT of the kidneys/ureters? This really disturbs me, I've taught 3rd year medical students to correctly diagnose this in their sleep.

I’m guessing Trailwinds on 466a. They do pretty well there but you are guaranteed to get a CT scan there. Like every single time. In this case though it nailed the diagnosis so kudos to them.

I had a kidney stone removed at Orlando Health Hospital in Clermont. They have a urology group next door that has privileges in the hospital so I was in the ER at 10 am and in my room at 2pm. While in the ER had Cat scan done and spoke with hospitalist and urologist. Surgery next day to remove stone. Beautiful ER with 40 rooms. A rating on Leapfrog for hospitals. Best care ever!

Trailwinds is just off CR466a. Next or very close to Lowe's.

Default Er

It was villages Spanish springs. Forgot the one in Brownwood, closer to my house. I did get a prescription for Flo max, tamsolosin 0.4 mg is the prescription name.

Both Spanish Springs and Brownwood ER are UF, and we've had terrible service at both. They do have another ER on 466A that is in the residential area, we've had good luck with them so far...

Rumor has it that Orlando Health will be putting one in shortly...

That's a great suggestion... if one doesn't die from the excruciating pain before they arrive in Clermont. Not everyone lives near Coleman Prison where they would have a shorter drive.
