My husband just spent a week in The Villages Hospital at Spanish Springs and is now in their acute rehab facility on the 5th floor. I have to report that we've had spectacular nurses and service. We were in the ER for a short while, then the ICU, then the surgical recovery floor and now rehab. All were great. I know people complain about this hospital, but our experiences have been wonderful. I think since Univ. of Florida took over things have improved. Our visiting daughter even mentioned how impressed she was with the hospital and care.

I have used the E.R. On 44 at Meggison Rd Twice and they were outstanding. They immediately sent me for testing and blood work and found the issue both times. They were friendly and professional

Immediately had the scan after fifteen minutes came in and said you javelin a kidney stone, the size being maybe might pass on its own or have it removed. Forgot to mention when nurse gave me that I’ve, 10 minutes later the paid subsided.
We had a similar situation with The Villages ER will never go there again.

Yes, I have a neighbor who had a similar experience. Very happy. I also have an aunt and uncle who went through various nightmare scenarios with The Villages Hospital on El Camino Real - the only thing I’ve ever heard my sunny disposition aunt complain about, in The Villages. This place sounds like Jekyll and Hyde. Not unlike Russian roulette.

Yes, it drives me nuts that, so often, people refer to things casually on here without giving the known name.

If they really want to help others, give the ACTUAL NAME of the business or person and, even better, the website link. Thank you.

I had a kidney stone years ago and the most pain I've had in my life. I took an ambulance to the ER and they had me laying in the back. I told them I need something for the pain and they said they couldn't give me anything till the doctor saw me. I replied "if he doesn't see me within 60 seconds I'm gonna scream my lungs out". He was there within a minute & gave me a shot of Dilaudid!! lol
I've been in the ER on 44 across from Brownwood and both times I went they were fantastic!

Sorry to hear that the Villages ER is still staffed by poor practitioners. The ER up on 466 gave my wife fantastic care after she contracted food poisoning at one of the Villages restaurants, so I highly recommend them if your health and life are important to you.

Have the love the over generalization. All we "know" is that in the ONE instance described by the OP, ONE practitioner made what most of us consider a bad decision. It does not mean ALL practitioners at ALL encounters.

From my perspective, that ONE physician needs to earn about 10 CME credits in the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of renal calculi, but that DOES NOT mean they ALL do.

I would send a letter or call the Operations Manager at Villages Hospital who is working to make improvements to the hospital.

Kind of like saying that someone who picked up their ball on every hole and put down a quadruple bogey just might actually manage to squeeze out a couple triple bogey’s on their next round.

You are correct. I wasn't in that much pain so my husband drove me there. Obviously if you are in dire pain, you would go closer to your home.
