A friend of hubby (Mr. Bill) claims there is a decent German place in Deland and gave us directions. Anyone want to take a convoy trip over there to try it?

Nonie, Caroline, and rest. We'll be permanent residents of TV starting in July. We bought a house last week. It will be finished in September so we'll rent from July to September. We were there for our "life style preview" and fell in love with the place. Our house sold in 2 weeks so we decided TV was for us. We chose our lot, house (Lantana), bought some furniture, and even opened a checking account. All in on week.

I can cook brats so we can have the German dinner or outing to a German restaurant. uiWe are building in Hemingway.

Pili

For wine go to wine.com or geerwade.com. Both ship to Florida and it is fairly reasonable. Some really great wines under $20 a bottle. At wine.com you can buy a case of 12 different wines, try them and then order a case each of the ones you like.

And for that German food I just got a really good Reisling for 12.79 a bottle with 1 cent shipping. Leasingham Magnus from Australia. Excellent and not at all sweet. And I am not a Reisling fan.

The Strong Arm Shiraz for 10.79 is really good, A to Z Pinot Noir for 17.99, Sticks Chardonnay for 17.99, the Norton Reserve Melbec for 22.79 are all excellent wines. And they will be delivered to your door.

pili/nonie

WE should be down in TV sometime in July...uncertain yet if this is the permanent move but we have our fingers crossed on a sale up north. We should definitely be here in September.

Nonie is your September trip a short visit or are you starting the snow bird venture early...Is it with or w/o Mr B??

pili Sounds great that everything worked out for you especially the sale of your existing home ...we also have a Lantana in Caroline and I think you will love the layout. Unfortunately we have not spent as much time in TV as we would like but my wife is retiring in 5 days....but we still have a house to sell in N Va.

784Caroline, good luck selling the house. We got lucky and sold it before the "for sale sign" went up. Have you taken your trip to Istanbul yet? If not, have a great trip. We just bought a new rug from Turkish shop owner we met in Istanbul. We bought a rug while we were there and he called last week he was in the states (he comes to US twice a year for shows). We bought a beautiful rug for our great room. He came to our house with rugs to show. He'll be back in September and will probably call. He's been calling us since we met in 2001. We finally had a need for another rug.

We take our european cruise incuding a stop in istanbul in November of this year. With all the weight restrictions fro airplanes its almost cost prohibitive to bring something like a rug back to the states .....I guess things are different if you are an importer. I fully expect us to be in TV come September and as early as mid-July so we need to stay in touch....but of course we also have German Dinner to attend to in the mean time!

Buddy up to me or Redwitch and we'll cook German for ya.

The Schnitzel Factory Restaurant just opened in Ocala. Authentic German dishes made by a real German person (Raymond Foehring).

Yes, I know Ocala is NOT in The Villages. Just wait a few years and Ocala will be annexed to Morsetown USA.

Oh thank you for the new restaurant info. We love German cooking. And with his birthday being today and mine in the near future, guess we're going for our celebrations!
