I forwarded the Schnitzel Factory info to a German neighbor. Last night he tried it out, reserving a table for eight. He said the service was terrible, some food was just ok, while other entrees were unpalatable, no air conditioning, card tables to eat on, plastic tablecloths, and park benches to sit on.

He said at the rate they were going they will probably go out of business soon.

I have been to the Schnitzel Factory many times! I love all the Schnitzels and the Sauerbraten. I am here to say, that I have never been disappointed with the authentic German food at the Schnitzel Factory! All the food is very much home made and everything is as authentic as can be. I personally know people that come all the way from Tampa to try out the restaurant, they have a marvelous reputation, I can only recommend all people from Ocala to support this great authentic restaurant."
The service is very good and the place is very clean. I moved about 30 years ago from Germany to Florida and there food is as good as in Germany. Nice background musik. A funny thing they serve the wine in real old German wine pitchers and old roemer glasses and the beer in real steins.

Went there last week. It's not fancy but the food and service were outstanding. German potato salad was just like Grandma used to make!Already have plans to return with friends in a few weeks.

Try El Santiago German night on Mondays. The food is very good and the prices are excellent. They also serve German beer.

Try Old World in Floral City - It is about a 40 minute drive but well worth it. Pork, Chicken and Veal Schnitzel, Wurst Platters, Kassler Rippchen, Kielbasa, homemade spaetzle that you can cover in brown gravy(or not), red cabbage, kraut and homemade apple strudel is a must for dessert. They also have a variety of other food for those who do not favor these German specialties like steaks, prime rib, seafood, and parmigiana. They have been around since 1981. You start with a soup and bread bar before you receive your entree. Quaint place with lace curtains - nothing fancy. Most entrees around $10-$12.

Nonie, try the St. Genevieve Sweet Red. My husband likes sweeter wines too, and he loves this one!

German food and liquor store with a good selection of wines are his concerns. We love Spanish, Argentinian, Chilean, and other good wines. I know it will drive him crazy if he cannot find a place with a good selection of wines.

Thank you,

Yes, just come to our house. I make the BEST Roladen with red cabbage, mashed potatoes and creamed spinach!

A few of us went to El Santiago to German night. It was great. Varied menu. Good prices including 2 for $20. We had gone to German night at Orange Blossom and while the food was OK it was not as good as El Santiago.
Give it a try, I don't think you will be disappointed.

And Pili...I make the BEST Roladen, red cabbage, mashed potatoes or Panni dumplings (well, they're packaged) and excellent potato pancakes. Once settled in TV, we'll have to get aquainted. I also love creative spicy stuff and good Mexican food. I'll have to do a lot of swimming to wear all this "good STUFF" off. Also, there is a wonderful company out of Chicago (I think) that is called Stigelmeiers. They ship the BEST German sausages, etc. Check out their website. Your husband will be in German heaven AND TV heaven.
