I said half of the stuff on here I do not beleive, Maybe its her half or maybe its not.I cannot beleive they would say hurry up and eat. I would not send for the manager. Think thats a mistake. I would think if it happened to me,I think the manager would be coming to me to talk.Order another cup of coffee and take your time.Just because you question someone, you are not calling them a liar. Lighten up.

I also beleive some people are here to stir things up. Just look at the responses.

Yes "Village Girl',there are people on this site that like to start trouble, as you can see to the responders on my coments. Some people always think they are right.
Paulandjean...I apologized to you in a post above in the event that I misunderstood your post.

I guess I should have said "insinuating" instead of "accusing". And I apologize for that.

It's just that in your first post above that I quoted, you said, "I cannot beleive they would say hurry up and eat".

To me, personally, that really does sound like an insinuation. I have been on this forum for a few years now and I, like many others, respect Redwitch and her posts and I don't think that she would make up a comment like that.

Sooo...if I have offended you, I am sorry. And if you feel like I like to stir up trouble and think I am always right, I am sorry about that also.

I won't comment on this anymore...but please know that Redwitch would not post a false statement.

You're right, the exact words were not "hurry up and eat" (not that I said they were) nor were they "eat faster" (which is what I did say but did not say it was a quote). I don't remember the exact words but it was basically, words to the effect that the restaurant was filling up (there were still at least 4 tables, probably 5 or 6 open around me) and could I please not take my time reading while I ate. Sorry, when I'm eating alone, I'm reading and eating. I still eat at a reasonable rate. And, had I not been asked to leave, I would have been done in about 15 minutes from getting my food. As it was, I sat there for well over an hour.

As was said, what could I possibly gain by relating this story? I don't stir up trouble but I don't back down from it, either.

Default My 2 cents

Agree, many of you have not met and so you can assume...but one thing I know,,,,although I may not always agree with Redwitch her history on here shows that she is reasonable and does not post just to stir things up!

You see, many people do have a history on here and you can go back and see the tone of their posts. I for one have always respected what Redwitch has had to say.

Did the manager know you? Since you were a regular and stopped in there between jobs, I just wonder if perhaps it was someone you knew and they felt like they could be honest and say to you, 'Hey, we are busy. Could you eat more and read less? I need that booth.'

You know what I mean?

I'm not excusing someone being rude, just trying to get inside the head of a manager who would seemingly, intentional ruin a business. I can see where people who don't know you would think it is an unbelievable story. It is unbelievable that the manager of Cane Gardens would say anything along those lines to a customer.

Default overstaying your welcome.

For the most part it is very disconcerting when groups tend to stay long after their bill has been paid knowing full well that there is a line of diners waiting to get into any particular restaurant. This is by no means to say that the server was right or that the manager was at fault.
I had a similar situation in NY and the manner in which was handled was to say the least, professional. After a most pleasant dinner with another couple we had continued to linger and talk. The Owner/Manager sent the server to our table with an offer to join him, the owner, at the bar for an after dinner drink. Obviously, we got the hint and found the suggestion, not rude, but more productive and appreciated than saying "get the hell up, we need the table."

Default Your kidding !!!!

I will admit that I'm a little taken aback by this.........having always been under the supposition that restaurants were for eating.......I may have to re evaluate my thinking on the matter.........I may have to start eating in the library...........just a thought......

I knew who she was and she probably had seen me, but we'd never talked before. I had not been there for 30 minutes, had only gotten my food no more than 10 minutes previously, so my length of time was not unreasonable. And do remember there were empty tables around me (the front always fills up last). As matter of fact, when I left there was still one empty table in the front. (I do try to time my dining times pre- or post-rush hours.)

There is a reality that singles are frequently treated with disdain in restaurant. They take up a table meant for at least two people, order and only pay for one meal and usually drink less and usually tip accordingly. I do tip as if there had been two orders if I get reasonable service. I believe anything less is ill mannered. So, rude service is not uncommon. That was one of the things I truly had appreciated about Cane Garden -- it didn't matter that I was a single or what time I showed up. If they had a table, I was welcomed and treated well and their food was good.

And I'm truly sorry. I wasn't trying to stir up the pot. As a matter of fact, I would not have posted at all had it not been that others had experienced negative attitude themselves.

Ceejay. Here is what I think. When I see your screen name, I know that what I will be reading under it will be fair, considered, thought out, reasonable, well evaluated and very interesting. EVERY TIME. Thank you for increasing my knowledge and being a role model for posting.

Now Paul and Jean. Let's be fair. EVERY SINGLE SOUL who posts on here think they are right. We not only think we are right, know we are right, have lived long enough to see that we are right and rarely tolerate another opinion on THAT subject, whatever it is.

Howsomever, I know for a fact that a fair and reasonable argument carefully thought out and diplomatically worded and posted on this forum by one of our peers has changed a stubborn mind or two. Mine included.

Red, it really irks me that you were/are treated in such a disrespectful manner. You weren't stirring up anything. Just relating an experience. That is what this forum is all about. I was just hoping above all hopes that it was someone who thought they knew you well enough to have temporarily forgotten that you were a customer of the business and not a friend they could come across in a manner a little less, shall we say, professional.

BOY HOWDY, Gracie!

Thank you so much...all I can say is that I've learned from the best!

Your posts are always so genuine...you write like you would speak (even though I've never heard your voice!).

I have enjoyed TOTV over the past few years and have always had my favorite posters...You, PTTurner, BKCunningham, Boomer (how I wish she would come back!) K9Lovers (I hope everything is ok with them, they haven't posted in forever), Katz, Richielion and I could go on.

I read everything you guys post...knowing that I am either going to laugh or cry or learn...and I enjoy every minute of it.

I guess when someone makes a negative remark, I tend to take it personally ...I gotta work on that!

Thanks for making my day!
