"The subject of the thread is Cici's vs. Flippers. For me the choice is clear. I ate at Cici's ONCE.

Never again. Thin toppings, tasteless crusts.............

All you can eat is meaningless when what you eat is not tasty."

I don't think I could be much clearer.

I'm right with you Carl.....I couldn't figure out what SkyGuy was talking about as your post certainly didn't boost Ci Ci's. What I got out of your post was that the place was very busy and you had to wait an hour before you were fed. But your group enjoyed what they had.

Carl, I was responding the the highlighted question you asked and only that question. I was NOT responding to the rest of your post nor did I intend to give you or anyone else the impression that I was.

What I was referring to with my response to your question was two separate posts, on two separate threads from last month that I suspect of being made by the same poster as both post made a claim that they paid a price for pizza at Flippers at a cost of over $40 in each case, one post mentioning antipasto and the other post not. I further think those two posts I'm referring to were made with the intention of boosting Cici at the expense of Flippers. Below you find my prior post I made that I had mentioned in my reply to you. Here you'll see more percisely what I'm referring to along with the post I was responding to:

You can take what the Flippers employee told you to the bank hdh. The $47 claim is not accurate and you can clearly see that for yourself if you go to the Flippers PDF menu. The largest and most expensive pizza they have costs $21.99 and the antipasto is $7.94 for a total of $29.98.
Carl, sorry that you (and Skip2MySue) got the impression that you did, but be assured that in no way, shape or form do I think for even a second that you were boosting CiCi's. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to PM me with them!

I had lunch today at Flippers. I had one of the several "Lunch Specials". I selected the 10" Thin Crust MyPie with a double topping of Ground Beef. It was an absolutely excellent pizza. My cost for the Pizza with two toppings and a soft drink was only $6.99. My server was excellent. The restaurant was very clean and all tables were full of customers with several people waiting for a table. Folks, this is a quality restaurant with quality food choices. Those few who are posting stuff about a pizza costing $47 or $42 must have gone to a different place. There is NO real comparison between a quality pizza from Flippers and one at an all you can eat buffet. And yes, there is a reason this place is swamped with customers. It is a really good restaurant and there are enough smart people around to realize it.

Boy Howdy! Haven't heard that since my good buddy passed a couple of years ago. I always kind of like the expression and he was one heck of a friend. Anyway, best to order your pizza custom made at CICI'S---I've had worse and the price is right. We tend to get somewhat "picky" as we mature, huh? or not.....forgot something....have not tried Flippers yet.

I was at Flipper's the night the woman found the shredded up newspaper in her salad ! It looked like they somehow got paper stuck in whatever machine they use to shred lettuce. The manager of the place was a jerk. She didn't want another salad so he actually handed her a bill for the meal!! It was quite interesting for the second night they were open. Terrible pizza by the way...burned on the edges and way overpriced. I'll take CiCi's or Pizza Hut anyday.

Regarding Flippers how about giving a new business some time to establish themselves before condemning them. In the Sun there was a picture of a young woman and her baby daughter identified as the new owners. Let's give them a chance to suceed before bashing them; it's a tough world out there and I, for one give a family credit to taking a risk and owning their own business. OK, I'll get down off my soap box and continue to enjoy paradise.
The new owner is some guy from Winter Garden. He owns the Flipper's in Clermont and that place is just as overpriced and lousy as this one is. Don't know who the young woman is...

I don't know where you got your information about the owners, but a little checking tells a different story. The following links show the different franchise owners and/or managers:

my husband eats the pizza at cici's but i really don't like their pizza at all. I miss Jerry's pizza that we could get in the Northern Va area (just outside Washington DC).

It is a little disturbing that a few posters here are really being untruthful about Flippers. I suspect they have their own motive for the posting of misinformation. Those of us who have been to Flippers know the truth. It is an excellent restaurant, with quality products. My only complaint is that it needs to be larger due to the huge number of customers who have realized that the pizza there is top notch. I hope they open another location in The Villages soon, and I suspect they will.

We just ate at the Flippers in Spanish Springs and I have to say that I was very disappointed. The pizza is just mediocre at best. I think that $1.99 per topping is pretty high.

My wife likes hot sauce on her pizza so she asked for some hot sauce. They brought a little plastic cup of hot sauce for her. When I got the bill I noticed that they charged us $.59 for hot sauce. It's not the $.59 but it's the idea of it. What's next? Are they going to charge for salt and pepper?

Even though I wasn't all that thrilled with the pizza I might have gone back but now I'm done with them just on principle. They got an extra $.59 from me today and lost a customer for life.

Do you not see the irony of your tagline: "I got no time for trivialities"

I had to laugh, after reading your rant over $.59...seems trivial to me.

Whatever....

The tag line comes from the Beatles' song, When I Get Home. I remember being in the 7th grade and seeing the lyrics in some magazine. I showed them to a friend of mine and he said, "That can't be right. Who would use the word trivialities in a rock song". It stuck with me and I just like the phrase.

Like I said, I really don't care about the $.59. It's just that I'm not going to give my business to someone who is so petty as to risk losing customers by charging for a condiment. I also think that $2.00 for a topping is very high.

A pizza with two toppings and two soft drinks for myself and my wife came to $25.00 with tax and tip. Twenty five bucks for mediocre pizza is way out of line.

just one Americans opinion!
Great price at CICIs and lots of variety, you say, but what are you supposed to do for protein? Fill up on salty & fatty "cheese" toppings? Salty & fatty meat toppings? It doesn't sound like a very healthy diet.

Went to Flippers today for lunch. My wife and I both had the my pie with 2 toppings and two diet colas for $6.99 each. A real bargain and they were delicious.
