Dependable, indeed. MCD is on the list of Dividend Aristocrats.

McDonalds coffee is THE best and beats out Panera and Starbucks on both taste and price.

I have not had one of their hamburgers in 4 years but do like their Egg McMuffin!

It's too bad they compare fast food hamburgers like McDonalds with places like 5 guys. I was surprised that Wendy's didn't finish higher. When I was eating meat, I always thought that their classic double was the best of the fast food burgers. Edit: I do see that out of the big 3 (McDonalds, Burger King, and Wendy's), Wendy's ranks highest.

I guess it depends on what other fast food place you compare them to.

We are not talking gourmet dining here. We are talking about a fast lunch to fix your hunger pangs.

Wendy's hamburgers, like Five Guys, is never frozen.
I think that probably makes a difference.

And, if you read the Blue Plate Deli thread you realize you are only a couple hundred feet or so away from one of the best burgers you will find and at a reasonable price (just no drive through)....it's a no brainer....

The original concept of McDonald's as set down by the McDonald brothers and expanded on by Ray Kroc was to concentrate on a very LIMITED menu. While they stuck to that mantra McDonald's was successful in terms of quality. However as they became bigger and bigger McDonalds became targets of the PC-Food Police and they threw out their original mission in an attempt to please all of the Food Police and that simply cannot be done. Instead of telling the Food Police to take a flying leap they responded to every stupid criticism and tried to do all sorts of bending & twisting to please everyone and instead have ended up essentially pleasing no one. If you're in the fast food business you will NEVER please the Food Police no matter what you do. So if McD's wants to be successful again they need to forget that the Food Police exist, dump the salads, apple slices, lattes, and all the other fru-fru junk that they've globbed onto their menu and go back to concentrating on burgers and fries. It's time to go back to their roots.

Well, In-N-Out Burgers win the prize.
Alas -- they are only in the southwest.

However, their fries are the worst.
They taste like fried cardboard!
