I love Ollies but no one makes anything as good as a DQ Blizzard especially the turtle (Carmel, fudge, pecans) with chocolate and completely blended but still have all the tiny bits.

Depending On Which end of the villages you live in leesburg might be closer? The gas station one off 75 at 484 only has ice cream products and hot dogs. IMO new Dairy Queen style would be mighty busy in the villages.

this thread stuck with me, & had to go out for DQ last nite. we took the ride to mt dora, which was a good time waster. they were out of the choc soft serve & hot dogs, but we made due with some burgers & a box of treats to bring home. they even had pleasant, competent workers on duty.

Well it just depends on your taste. If you like DQ go get it, but if you want to drive another 5 or 10 miles for a $0.50 Ice cream cone because you like it, go there. I’m not here to argue just giving my opinion!

I’m not talking about liking it because you like the texture whether it’s soft or hard & DQ is cheap, Russell Stovers is better ice cream. If you like soft dip that’s your opinion but sir it’s not a better ice cream, it’s just that you like soft dip. Just my opinion & you got yours! You have a good week & god bless!

Ambrosia sells a non dairy product. To me, that isn't ice cream.

I've known all along DQ was not real ice cream. I still loved the Buster Bar Parfait. Haven't had that since moving from NJ.

A Dairy Queen restaurant is planned in Wildwood on the southwest corner of County Road 216 and U.S. 301, diagonally across from the Circle K gas station.
From the other place.

Apparently an absentee owner, who had too many young kids working and no one in charge. Same problem with the Krystal Hamburger that went out of business in Leesburg last year. When you ordered, it was like an inconvenience to them to fill your order. BTW, I got a sundae at Ollie's at SS about year ago, and I thought it was terrible.
No the person was right about DQ in 2001 t was out on the highway there is or was a Thai restaurant in there now

My $.02
There are 2 types of possibilities, one is that a franchisee is going to open it up and the other would be a corporate run store. If it's a franchisee (that knows what they're doing) then they should stand a good chance. They most likely will do whatever is necessary to ensure its success. With a manager from a corporation in charge with no vested interest, it might not be managed so well.

Perhaps this location for this type of business will bear the needed traffic in order for it's success/survival.

Perhaps the location on 466 didn't have the demographics for that particular business, yes many vehicles passed by but how many potential customers were not going down 466? Now Culvers is a unique business and has a huge following. Where DQ isn't anything special. Just my opinion.

US 301 has a much different traffic demographic and potentially could grab more passerby customers to ensure its opportunity for success.

Not every business wants/needs to be a golf cart accessible business.

If a franchisee is attempting to open up during this difficult time, I wish them well and hope for their success.

Unless they include a traffic light in that intersection North bound customers will have to travel to the next left turn cut out and do a flip........and when leaving head South to do a flip to get back.

We use CR 472...and will have to do the flips to get there and back.

Yes, DQ is open and thriving in Leesburg. Next to Popeyes, was there on Sunday afternoon. No lobby, but line moves quickly.
