Why would you want to take your dog to a restaurant? We have a dog and would never be that inconsiderate to other people nor would I ever eat in a restaurant that allowed dogs inside or out.

They all have to allow them if they are service dogs. I am totally against the hearing impaired having hearing ear dogs except at home if necessary. But no public funds should have to be spent on providing these dogs.

The restaurant can legally ask what service the dog is trained to do.

However, anyone can ask out of curiosity and IF the dog owner is honest, they will not put up a stink but will tell you.

Big difference between service dogs and "emotional support animals".

The teacup Yorkie I saw at Spanish Springs whose "service" was barking at the doorbell for a hard of hearing owner makes me question the service dog vest at an outdoor venue. If that was told to a restaurant owner, the dog would NOT be allowed in the restaurant.

no one has mentioned the fact that when our dog was alive, at home, he used to sit in the corner and stare at us eating. We would allways feed him first before the family sat down to eat.

I disliked him staring at us and would always make him go into another room. Not that I disliked him, but I dislike eating in front of anybody who is also not eating, or not waiting on their food to be served.

Dogs sense of smell is so good that I would think that, if I were a dog, in a resturant, with all those awesome smells around me, and I just have to sit and watch others eat, It would be horrible for me, as a dog.

So why put your beloved pet thru this. why not just leave your pet st home, where he knows the food smells and has a potential for bite of that smell.

Personnally, I think this is cruel and unusual punishment.

I was simply answering the OP's question.
I wasn't suggesting anyone take their dog to lunch or dinner;
although if a deck is licensed for animals, I see nothing wrong with it.
If I were offended by the thought of eating with a dog, I'd check whether the patio area allows dogs.

Our dog lies at our feet when we eat. Doesn't beg, borrow, or steal food. Doesn't stare at us. Nor have any of our dogs done any such thing. They were never fed from anywhere but their bowl so don't expect or even want the dinner table food. Training--never had to banish a dog to another room.

He just wants to be in whatever room we're in.

We have never thought to take our pets to a restaurant. While it might please us to do so, there may be some allergic, or sometime just plain afraid of dogs. My father in law was bitten by a dog, and partly loss use of his arm, and while he got better as time went on he always felt uneasy and would leave a place of business when certain dogs were present.

Since I have no idea who I am sitting next to I would never want to make anyone uncomfortable just for my own pleasure. But that’s just us always thinking of how i might effect others.

I have had a dog all my life and come from a family of 4 veterinarians and can honestly say there is no place for a dog or any animal at a restaurant, if you are that bad of shape you can’t eat with taking a dog be courteous of other patrons and order take-out, all eating establishments should just no, or they will end up with just a bunch of dogs and not good paying customers.......
