Default Ruby Tuesday Did the Right Thing

Sunday dinner st Ruby Tuesday. Based on a previous visit three ordered trout almondine (amandine?). About half way through the meal L mentioned her trout was overcooked. A and E chimed in and said the same. Waiter brought check and L told him the trout was overcooked. He offered to replace it. They declined as it was too late. Moments later a manager appeared. Again an offer of a replacement. They again declined as they were no longer very hungry. She apologized and left only to return a few moments later to explain the three orders had been removed from our bill and then handed us two chits for a one free with any order, no $$ limit.
We like Ruby Tuesday and would have continued to patronize them without the added benefits. They get four thumbs up. BTW, my steak was done to perfection.

Bill and I both enjoy Ruby Tuesday and dine there often. Yes, their steak dinner is great as are all of their dishes. Service is also great. Highly recommend they be added to your list; they're on our list.....b

That's good to know, Downeaster. It pays to treat customers as if you value their business. They come back, and tell their friends, and their friends come.

I don't know why so many businesses don't get that.

downeaster, seems like you did right by bringing up the issue..........and the restaurant definitely did the right thing(s) to address it! Short-term loss/cost for them but the long-term benefit will far out weigh it.

We also went to Ruby Tuesday on Sunday evening. We ordered chicken and it was dry as a f_ _ t!! My husband even asked the waiter to have them under cook it. Upon "nicely" complaining, the waiter said the manager would come to discuss it. In the meantime, hubby was hungry and ate the chicken. Manager comes to our table some 10 minutes later and agreed to take the chicken off the bill but questioned why he ate it. The poor guy was hungry!!!! Very nice of her, but the chicken was definitely not enjoyable. The manager gave us another 2 for 1 coupon. I believe the cook needs some cooking lessons though.

We have been pleased with Ruby Tuesday as well. Mentioned I didn't like the cole slaw and the server made every effort to replace with something else. Not a big deal to me, I just didn't like it but was impressed by the customer service attitude to make it right. My husband always gets the steak and it has always been good. That surprises me as I don't think of Ruby Tuesday as a place to order steak. I give them a thumbs up!

A little over a year ago I signed up for Ruby Tuesday e-mail, offers, etc. Now on my birthday I get a coupon for a free "designer" burger of my choice -- usually costs in the $8 range and they are really good. I look forward to it each November! So might be something you would consider doing.

Yes, I would definitely say that Ruby Tuesday provided great customer service in both the case with the Trout and the one with the Chicken.

If the food was not properly prepared (overcooked, in both cases), the waiter's offer to replace it was proper, of course, and then for the manager to take it off the bill if the order was not replaced was only right. However, for them to do this AFTER the food was eaten was above and beyond their responsibility.

That would be similar to asking for a leftover box AFTER complaining the food was not good and having it removed from the bill.

Get the food replaced or taken off the bill but DO NOT EAT THE FOOD and then complain AND have it taken off the bill. Their manager should be applauded and Mr. Dry Chicken should be a bit ashamed for accepting their offer.

The manager at Ruby Tuesday's knows how to treat his customers right.

He provided great customer service. When a customer is treated right, they will always come back.

I know I would.

We too love Ruby Tuesday; love the food; great salad bad, also. We have dined there, at many of their locations including TV, many times with rarely any problem; and the few problems have always been generously solved. Any restaurant can have an occasional disappointment; how it is handled is what matters.

Default Beer

The food is good at Ruby Tuesdays but they've taken all the good beer off of draft status. Now on draft you can only get light beers, no more ales (ie, Newcastle,Bass, etc.) and no more Sam Adams seasonals. I've gone from eating there once a week to once a month!

Glad to hear good things about RT. It had been one of my favorite places to dine until about 3 years ago; stopped going after 3 bad experiences in a row which included lousy service (having to ask 4 times for cream for the coffee), dirty plates at the salad bar, and overall bad management. Obviously they have had management changes, and I will be going back. They used to have the best ribeye in town.
