WinnDixie and Publix has some of the best baked goods around here. I understood what you meant. I also get the attitude.

Winn Dixie's chocolate layer cake would make Cuomo celebant.

Their White chocolate macadamia nut cookies would make you loose track of your search for bread.

Publix has wonderfully yeasty hard crust breads that are excellent to put your butter and garlic on while weeping over the lack of the real things.

They also have good rye bread that some of us like to toast and slather with real butter and strawberry jam.

I just say this..........When you are not near the bread you love, love the bread you're near.

Or..........

Traditional White Bread Recipe | Allrecipes

Don't make the water any hotter than 110. Use just enough flour but not too much. Need to Knead properly. Let raise twice, in covered bowl.

If you use three packages of dry yeast, it will make you forget your ethnicity.

Love you Gracie but I have to wonder if you’ve ever had Italian pastries from a real Italian bakery.

Publix and WD stuff is ok but not what I’ll looked for.

You are living in once called rural Florida. Trying to find any ethnic bread is a challenge. Maybe something in Orlando. Coming from Chicago I miss all the ethnic bakeries but have gotten used to the basic non-descript bakery items offered in and near The Villages.

Trying to find any ethnic ANYTHING is a challenge here. That said, you can find a decent cannoli at Giovanni's. You won't find a proper bialy anywhere in Central Florida, but my dad claims he saw one once in Boca.

For challah, buy me the ingredients and I'll make you a couple loaves. Otherwise, good luck - Boca will be your closest bet.

For GOOD Italian cookies, you can order Veniero's out of East Village in NYC through "Goldbelly."

Thank you. On behalf of all the people who now live here and enjoy it a whole lot, but remember wonderful culinary experiences from our past lives I thank you.

That was almost nice.

Philippe, The French baker at Brownwood Farmers market. Classically trained European baker with an amazing variety of breads, pastries, etc. You ought to check it out when they come back from France this fall. In the pink tent next to Bluefin.

No preservatives or additives, just real bread.
