Default Nathan's at Walmarts

Does anyone know what happened to the Nathan's at Walmarts (CR466)? The hot dogs, fries, fish & chips were always excellent. We would sometimes go just for the hot dogs, and then since we were there, would shop in Walmarts, rather than the other way around.

They closed about 6-8 months ago. No forewarning. No relocation. I was there one day for my monthly Nathan's fix and some shopping and everything was gone. I also find myself going to Walmart less since Nathan's closed.

Loved those Nathan's hot dogs. I went through withdrawal when they closed. Now I make my own - Hebrew National quarter pound hot dogs in Pepperidge Farms Soft Kaiser rolls. Delish. If they weren't so bad for you I would have them every day.

Buy the Nathan's in natural casing at Publix. Just like going to Coney Island.

We've been using Boar's Head in natural casings. They're good but those Nathan's dogs right off the grill were the best!

Two hot dogs with mustard and sauerkraut and a doctor brown's black cherry soda at Nathans, then a walk down the block to Shatskin Knishes. Sigh!!!

While you’re reminiscing, ever been to Yonah Schimmel's on East Houston, (two blocks from Katz's Deli) for knishes? They've got over a dozen different varieties. Knishes and egg creams are all they do, and they've survived there for more than 100 years.

I worked at Walmart and found out that there was a lease dispute between Walmart and person(s) who leased the space...one day they just closed shop and that was that...

The New York Deli in the Southern Trace Plaza has Nathan hot dogs. Tried one the other day and was yummy. True, not a healthy diet but good every once in awhile can't hurt, huh?.....b

My search for a replacement for the Nathan's that closed in Walmarts continues. Today we tried Ollie's in the Bella Cruz shopping center. While they do sell Nathan's franks, in addition to frozen yogurt, they're microwaved and not really worth the trip. I've yet to try a Nathan's dog at Gandolfo's but it looks like options for a good hot dog in TV are pretty sparse these days.

I used to make chocolate and vanilla egg creams in my father and mother's luncheonnete back in the fifty's.

There was "Freddy the hot dog man", who sold hot dogs for a dime or 3 for a quarter. They were delicious.

He had a cart that he powered with his horse. WOW - I'm really feeling old and hungry too.

Try the 5 Guys hot dog. It's not a traditional Nathans dog. It's more of a sausage, but boy is it good. I like it with mustard, grilled onions and grilled mushrooms.

I like the Hot Dogs at the stand in Home Depot's parking lot.

Here in Lakeport, the K-Mart (the only national retailer in the town), has Nathan's hot dogs at their cafe counter - been there, done that. There is a guy with a hot dog wagon in the Sears Distributor parking lot down the street that is about the best around here.

When I was a kid there was a Willie's Weenie Wagon on Western Ave on the far south side of Chgo that usually had a long line to get a Hot Dog (probably for around a quarter). I understand that Willie's grandson is still selling Hot Dogs but at a different location.

Best hot dog so far in The Villages is from the wagon at Lake Sumter Landing during the nightly entertainment. Jumbo all beef dog and a steamed bun.
