Brisas del mar #1 now! Great service and nice people and when they play the music they don't blast your head off with the volumn.

I saw the story about the closing for a clean-up a few weeks back. I hope they make it back to their former status. I'll have to read about it because i'm done with them for good.
my career took me into tens of thousands of restaurant basements. I can assure you your own kitchen is superior to any of those restaurants where.millions ate in nyc.
It will never be perfect but the best of restaurants have been cited occasionally and the cases of bribery between inspectors and them are routine in many cities.
I have ate in cited restaurants afterwards to give them a 2nd chance and can say i've never had a bad meal afterwards.
I believe in 2nd chances.

So it is ok to have all these health code violations? I am troubled that the next day these were not cleared up. They are supposed to be professional chefs here.

Most Mexican food looks like it has already been chewed up and then spit back out onto a plate.

A new Mexican Restaurant opened just yesterday. It is at the west end of the strip where Publix is on 466. I am going to try it today at lunch.

Thanks for the visual reference. What must you think of Italian or Chinese? No, please don't tell us.

To Biker 1 -- What else to expect? I expect restaurants to be clean and not have these violations in the first place, let alone the violations still there after te reinvention. Sounds like they don't care enough. I'll never go back because they have lost my trust.

My post was in response to the inane suggestion that the restaurant should be closed for a few weeks, presumably as some sort of punishment. I expect the process of inspection and closure until the restaurant passes to be applied equitably. They have apparently addressed the issues and reopened. Whether you go back there or not, I really don’t care and doubt anyone else does either.

News article
A Mexican restaurant in Wildwood was shut down after an inspector found numerous high-priority violations.

Los Magueyes Mexican Restaurant on Shopping Center Drive was shut down May 10 after the inspector found flies landing on steaks in a prep room and roaches crawling near the cook line, according to an inspection report on file with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

Two other “stop sale” orders were issued due to food temperature violations. In addition there were whole fish thawing in buckets. The buckets were moved to a cooler after they were discovered by the inspector.

There were numerous flies in the kitchen, bar and at the server station.

There was old food stuck to “clean” dishes and utensils, an accumulation of food on the interior of a microwave and a soiled cloth in use at the cook line. There was also a soiled cutting board on the cook line.

An inspector returned the following day, but there were still too many violations and the restaurant was not allowed to reopen. The inspector returned again this past Thursday and the restaurant met inspection standards.

It's ashamed the owner or manager let the staff be slobs.

I wonder if they fired the responsible employees?

Why weren't they using an exterminator on regular basis?

Yikes! We were at Los Magueyes the 3rd week in April. It was our first time. I do recall people standing on line were holding the door open and flies were entering and I commented on that to my husband. I thought the place was very cute, and the food was fabulous. Their Pina Colada's were fantastic

I doubt it. They have violations on a regular basis.
It’s a game with them.
When in doubt of a restaurants cleanliness, always check the condition of the rest room. That will tell a lot.

Inane idea huh. Should there not be repercussions when a restaurant does not believe in food sanitation and only penalty from the county is being closed for two days.

If not for someone on here bringing this to light would have had no idea this happened.

Do not care if they are closed for some time or fined but when a public restaurant allows this there should be some repercussion.
