Because the story doesn't make sense. second hand at that.

Aren't you glad you relayed what you were told?

Definitely it is best to let the person tell the story firsthand.

No restaurant anywhere would wrap up a half eaten baked potato in a to go bag to pass off as food. Your friend is feeding you baloney over a baked potato.

This doesn't sound right. 1) I have met the wife (I believe they are co-owners) and she has always been very pleasant. 2) I had a minor issue with a sandwich, they left the swiss cheese off a Ruben, and the owner replaced the sandwich and comped the meal. I didn't ask for anything I just commented when he asked how my sandwich was.

Sure they can, but when a story like this is voiced widely in public as hearsay. It can do serious damage. Therefor fair minded people are going to react with skepticism . This is more probable if many have had very good experiences with the same business.

Somebody should contact this restaurant to get their side of the story. https://s3.amazonaws.com/cdn2/McAlis...+Menu-8-15.pdf

McAlisters, not McCallisters. We average eating there about once a week and never have had a problem; always quick, always fresh, always good. Also, who doesn't look at their takeout before heading home with it? Whether it's drive-thru or going inside to get it, we never leave without making sure of what we ordered is correct.

As I said, this story just doesn't make sense. There is just no way this could have happened as told. Sorry, but that is my opinion & I have never eaten there so I have no loyalty one way or the other.

It does sound like a strange story to me too. I have never been to this restaurant either and do not know the OP nor his friend as far as I aware.

It doesn't make much sense to me why someone would accuse a customer who returned an item that they purchased that they were trying to rip them off.

My question is who orders a baked potato to go? A baked potato? One? Like plain? Seems odd to me..

I love it there and I will go again. Until I experience something I don't like.

If there was half eaten potato, sounds like wrong bag with leftovers was given.

This could be it. Would explain the position of the wife of the manager. She does not want to admit the mistake and is pleasant when things are going well.

I still think we should wait and see if the manager and/or his wife come on TOTV to explain.

I would have no problem eating there.

Mmmmmm---salt, Mmmmmmm fat!
Their New Yorker (corned beef and pastrami is great)
