Food good, but atmosphere seems to be declining. Bright lighting...not what you expect from an Italian restaurant. Soo bright, we thought we were in a cafeteria! Waiter and others told us that when they try to dim the lights, then they flicker! I say it's time for owner to call electrican.

Some of us older folks like to have a little light so we can read the menu. A lot of restaurants are so dark we have to resort to using a flashlight to read ours.

I don't know, maybe it's just me, but posting to complain about lighting at a restaurant seems a little petty to me.

When we came to visit last week, we thought - no way are we gonna waste money on a so-called "Italian-American" restaurant in Florida. Everyone knows, there's something in the water, or the stoves, or the electricity, or the brain cells, that causes all italian food to taste horrible once you leave the southernmost reaches of New York. It's a fact, Jack! I mean how good could italian food be, when they admit in their advertising that it isn't even truly italian, but merely "Italian-American?" What does that mean, anyway? That they pronounce it Manny-Kotty?
But we said y'know, to heck with it, let's go anyway. And so we did, the night before we returned home. Hubby had veal parm, I had lobster ravioli. Awesome. Really delicious. I tasted hubby's sauce and it was really really terrific. Our waiter was a bit too "lounge-lizard" for my taste, and I notice this seems to be a trend with the male servers in all the restaurants down there. Maybe they think that because they're dealing with "old folks" they have to pretend to be really bad imitations of Sammy Davis Jr.? But that's more a commentary on the servers, not the service itself, which was very good. Or the food, which was excellent. I didn't notice any trouble with the lighting - it was well-lit, but not like Starbucks. Maybe that's the "American" part of their cuisine - "Italian food that you can actually see when you eat it!" My complaint: They didn't have manny-kotty on the menu ![]()

I forgot to mention that when we were there a few weeks ago, we ate lunch (lighting not a problem) and we really enjoyed it. It was the day that the republican candidate for governor was to speak on the square, so the service left a little to be desired. I think that was because they were trying to get a booth set up outside while they were taking care of customers inside. We were all laid back and didn't really care that much about how fast it was anyway. We had just put our down payment and were just relaxing.

This just in . . . We interrupt schedule programming with this important breaking news . . . There are 50 states out there beyond NYC, and they even have running water, telephones and electricity besides authentic Italian cooking/restaurants. |

On the other hand I've had bad pizzia in Chicago, New York, New Haven, Boston & Italy! _

The last time I ate in a dimly lit restaurant I had pizza. I was picking at the mushrooms on what wasn't eaten and I saw one move. I smoked at the time so I flicked my bic so I could see. The pizza was covered with cockroaches. This was almost 40 years ago. I gotta see what I'm eating.

Everyone knows the NY Jets and the NY Giants, the genuine NY football teams, play within sight of the Empire State Building, even though they play in Joisey. Joisey has good pizza and Italian food too. Sinatra was from Hoboken. Now a pastrami on rye, that's another story.
