Why would you mention this? Did someone say you were drunk there on occasion? I didn't see that anywhere in the story.

I've never been drunk there either but I wouldn't bring it up if I were discussing a bad experience with the restaurant.

Sounds like there is much, much more to this story.

Default I think you should just let it go...

We all have to be careful what we type for the world to see.

And I agree that the amount can't be a lot. Sometimes we just have to move on.

Least said. Soonest mended.

I would go to small claims court with the claim, and I would ask for this thread to be removed so it doesn't live on for years, affecting your reputation.

Sadly enough - forums often = drama.. This post serves no legitimate purpose, plain and simple. Hell, if I posted on here about every disagreeable situation I've found in and around the Villages, I could publish a book.
Have a nice day, and hey, Merry Christmas!

I'm sure it's hard as a business owner when someone works one day then quits and leaves them stranded with no notice. There has to be just a little bit more to this story.

Working 6.5 hours as a hostess would probably result in an after tax pay check of NO More than $40-50. Granted, looks like you have come up on the short side here, but the other part of "your" story" was about stress. If you really want to persue this I would write a letter to the owner..send it registered if you feel its necesssary...make your request and see what happenes. Why confront him and make your day worst!

Now if he sends you a W-2 next month..then you have another issue!

That's exactly what I was going to suggest. Mention in the letter that you will contact the LRB - sometimes the threat will result in some favorable result for you.

just to set the record straight I apoligize for not clarifing what rick said to me he claims he paid me but that I was probley drunk and cashed the check and dont remember doing it. My reason for posting this is not for the money if I needed 6 hrs of pay I wouldnt be living in the villages my point is I feel that if rick is doing this to me how many other people is he or has he done this to, like I said he was abusive to me and im no wimp I was standing strong and he came right for me with his name calling he spoke to my husband like I wasnt even there trying to sway him that I was lieing to him theres something wrong and if I can stop this from happening to ur Mother, sister ..daughter or grandmother its worth letting him no im not going away . Thats the problem that is happening people become intimidated and run well im not like I said i have always loved the red sauce and this is a real shame and no I did not leave rick in a lurch I was very honest about the fact that I had 3 job offers to choose from and I let him no the very next morning . I have also seen rick many times since the 1st of Oct and we have always had nice conversations and he would appologize about my check and I always said I would check with the girls the following week like I said dont no what happened but it was uncalled for and i am entitled to be treated with respect. And thank you but no need to worry about my reputation Im doing great anyone that knows me would be shocked and disappointed if I were to let this go, I must say IM a great person and wouldnt do anything to hurt anyone. Although I AM and Have very strong feelings when it comes to ABUSE of any nature and no i wont let this go . The minute he tryed to scare me and tryed to convince me that I was the one lieing my safe guard mode kicked in and thats when I went for my husband and he still didnt back off . Think what you want I hope every woman that is on here reads this because if 1 feels stronger God Bless dont let this happen to you BONNIE

You said you always had a good relationship with the owner. Why would you quit the very first day because someone told you he would treat you bad ? It just doesn't make sense to do that if you got along fine with him.

Post Forgive me

Forgive me but I think a lot are missing the point. It is not and should not be about the money. That is insignificant..!! What is important is that for what ever reason she was treated poorly by a business owner. He would have been better off to pay the $40-60 and move on but he chose to ignore her for what ever reason. I firmly believe in "principle" and that she should not
allow this disrespect to continue. Thus we have small claims court where one or the other will be proved to be correct. Money should not be the object but rather the truth and that will come out in small claims. Either he can produce the check which he said he paid her or he can't. If he can she is at fault if he can't he is at fault. I would pay the costs of small claims based on the principle.

So true PennBF.
Seems many didn't read her posts. She had 3 job offers. In his abuse of her he called her drunk.
I've seen many owners treat women very poorly and the abuse needs to STOP.

Do you want your wife or daughter to receive abuse like this?
Talk is cheap until it happens to you or your loved ones.

It really does NOT matter what he said, she said or they said. He MUST pay her for all hours worked, period. That is according to Federal Labor Law.
She should pursue her case and if or when he is infact found guilty of infractions against his labor force THEN she should let it be known to anyone she can. I personally would never EVER patronise such an establishment IF I were to see such a ruling by the National Labor relations Board.
