Default Thai Ruby

The Thai Ruby food is only OK, very bland and when asked why..the reply, we cater to the Villages likes. Also the service is super slow, nice people, very polite, etc but the food is a huge let-down.
Disappointed.

I agree that the food is only okay but the service and atmosphere is great. Here and at other ethnic eateries, you can ask for extra spicy and they will accommodate.

We like the place a lot, have brought many friends they liked as well.

They will cook to order almost anything you like.

Also try the Asian Bistro by Target mall on 441

Thai Ruby is an excellent restaurant. True, the food is pretty bland IF you do not ask for it to be made spicier. I always ask for mine "medium hot" and it is perfect. Never, never ask for "Thai hot" unless you have a cast iron tongue, throat, stomach, and further regions.

Nice atmosphere in the restaurant, nice service, and decent prices. You can carry on conversations easily without competing with background noise.

We eat out quite often and we are repeat diners at Thai Ruby. Nothing outstanding but an all around nice place to dine.

Thai Ruby is a favorite of ours. In my opinion it has been very consistent with quality, service and price since opening. LOVE their Curry Chicken.

Love Thai Ruby. Everything is fresh and steaming hot when served. The Tom Kai soup is excellent.

We've been eating there on a regular basis since our lifestyle preview visit almost 4 years ago and consider it our favorite restaurant. The service is great, food very tasty and it's the quietest atmosphere in the Villages.

WE just ate there last week to celebrate Jenny's promotion. The food was OK. I didn't like the appetizers very much. Jenny loves crab rangoon and it was not very good.Over cooked or something. The batter was very hard. Same with the fried wonton, egg rolls and spring rolls. All were a dark brown color, not the light tan I expect to see in that type of food.

The pad thai was not bad. I've had a lot better and the stir fried pork dish was just ok as well.

It was almost empty when we went and the service was very good. The people were smiling and the food came out in a reasonable time. They came back and refilled our water several times.

I did have to wave at the waiter to come and pick up my credit card after he dropped off the check. I'll never understand why they wait so long to come back for certain things. He left the check, I pulled my credit card out of my wallet and stuck it in the little folder. He was then engrossed in a conversation with one of the female employees. He was facing me, but when I signaled him he didn't seem to see me. I waved again several times. Finally I half stood up and waved my arms and he saw me. It was a small thing and overall I'd say the the food and the experience were OK. Better than most in the Villages where I find the food to be not very good and the service very slow.

I have always had good meals there. I love the fried rice with pineapple and raisins!

I can tell you that Bamboo Bistro has a new chef and it wasn't very good the last time we ate there. He changed up the recipes and not for the better.

Did you speak to the owner, she's usually there.

When did the chef change?
