Default I love Sonny's

Sonny's is great - especially the baby back ribs! Never had a problem with service or the food. I have not tried Oakwood but will have to try it next time I get down there. My hubby stays down there for the winter and always rubs it in when he eats at Sonny's. One of my favorite places to eat. Just love BBQ

Haven't been to Sonny's in a while. Last time I got a really old baked potato (brown) and dried up ear of corn. Can only imagine how long the other food had been sitting around. Like you said, Never again.

Default Lunch

1st time there the other day for lunch. Service was good, food was great, place was clean and quiet. Couldn't be happier.

I am easy to please, like my sainted mother. I have always wondered why people who have discerning taste, IOW hard to please, are admired. It seems to me they simply choose to spend much of their life displeased. I once had a boss who seemed to relish sending his food back and refusing the wine - wonder how many "extras" he got when they brought back his food? I usually get good service, but I always kid around with the waitstaff and treat them with respect. On the rare occaision I get really bad service, I complain, but I never blame anyone specifically, and they usually make it right. Anyway, I really like Sonny's and Oakwood, and am looking forward to trying Burkes as it is very close to where we rent. BTW I am definitely not a pushover, but you usually get as good as you give. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff BUT sometimes people do not forget. Three or four years ago we went to Carraba's and got bad (yucky) service. The server actually was making fun of my husband up at the cooking area. I saw him but my hubby can not hear well and was seated away from the bad apple.
Bad dining experience. On our way out, my husband told the MGR- "We will never be back"!

Nothing happened and I want to go back but he says NO!! I know that server is probably not there anymore!

Sometimes- You can NEVER FORGET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm with you Ed. Maybe it comes from growing up in a poor city environment. I eat anything I can get my hands on

Going to try Burkes as well.

The only time I eat at Sonny's is when I sit at the outside bar (Jimmy"s) and enjoy the dry rubbed chicken wings - they are excellent. Tried the inside a couple of times and did not like the service or the food. Oakwood on the other hand is excellent IMHO

Hi, this is Joanie from Bar-B-Que Management. We're the licensed franchisee for Sonny's in The Villages. I apologize that we did not meet or exceed your expectations. I would like to find out more about your experience so that we can use it as a training opportunity to ensure appropriate corrective measures are taken. I can assure you that we truly care about each and every one of our guest's dining experience and try to always live up to the standards of excellence set by Sonny Tillman. Would you please favor me with a reply and provide me with a detailed account of your visit, including your server's name, along with the date and time, and what you ordered. Thank you in advance for your assistance. Your feedback is invaluable, and I look forward to hearing from you. bbqm@heritagemanagement.net

Thumbs up

I've been to Sonny's a number of times since January of 2009 and been quite satisfied. I have seen them on a less then great service night but nothing to bent out of shape over.

I've had the rib sampler with three kinds and found each different and would fit different tastes but nothing "bad" that I couldn't eat. The pork 3 ways was good and the pulled pork sandwich quite good. I had corn bread that was a bit dry and heavy but there are so many ways to do corn bread who's to say it's bad?

Personally, I like the all you can eat deals and when I get seconds I often have to decline the extra sides as just too much. The Baked beans are very good.

Next few times I'll have to try the different chicken dishes.

Now, if you like pulled pork you haven't lived unless you've had Kālua pork in Hawai'i!

We love Sonnys. If you get bad service anywhere you have to let the management know. I am impressed that the management reads TOTV.

Hi Joanie, recently moved here, so haven't tried Sonnys yet. I would like to....however, I am very allergic to MSG. Can you tell me if any of your food uses it? Thanks, and I look forward to trying Sonnys BBQ.

It's a BBQ! I never had a bad experience, but then I got what I expected, BBQ. I have to admit that the service is better when the snowbirds aren't in TV. If you want a interesting dinning experience, try Perkins, when the air is on, and your food gets cold before it gets to your table. Mention it to the manager on duty and all you get is " the AC has a mind of its own" Not a, can I heat that up, or let me fix that,,, I don't want a freebe, just a hot meal that i'm paying for. Now Perkins and Sonnys are not on the same level. But it just goes to show you that bad meals can and do happen.. I'll go back to both of them.. but at Perkins, I'll try and stay away from the air vents.. If I go often enough and things don't change, Then I don't go again... But maybe someone else may have a good experience. I try to find at least one good thing,,, in everything. Sometimes its hard, but I really try and make an effort.. love the insights here..

Texas Stockyard in Lady Lake (in the old Silver Slipper location) is the best BBQ in the area....light years ahead of Sonny's. And, I come from the BBQ capital of the world, Memphis. Many folks here think Sonny's is good, but they don't really know what good BBQ is. JMHO!!!!
