Default Oak and Stone

11:30 am Brunch at Oak and Stone today. So early didn’t have to wait for a table. Previous experience at other sites, Eastport seems little smaller than other locations.
Staff very attentive, didn’t need a live demo on how to pull a tap, already had app on phone for current offerings. Because of newness the taps were clogged with staff teaching, many customers hadn’t downloaded current stock, so slow to acquire the taps we wanted.

15ish wines would work great with full service restaurant, but with bar food, not so much. Charcuterie. Board would enhance wine.
Bourbon options standard for bar.
Premixed cocktails by the ounce, including an espresso martini available.
Craft beer only at taps, with an excellent dark selection, 1 each IPA, Blond, Red, less than $1 per ounce on many beers. Standard pint glasses as well as flight glasses. Snifters, and stock wine glasses. I didn’t notice martini glasses, but the taps were 3-5 people deep.
On a side note every tap will rotate, so what you loved last week might not be available this week.

Good bar food, bourbon wings, smash burger, Gouda Mac, and brunch burger, arrived at table once we poured our first 2 flight sample. Food was hot, waitstaff stopped numerous times to clear table, asked if we needed anything. Happy hour 2-6 and after 9pm.
If one wears hearing aids you might want to leave them at home..it’s the loudest eating establishment we have ever experienced.

Bradenton location disappointing. Indifferent service, mediocre pizza. Way too loud.

Had lunch there today. Food was good, service was good, was very noisy. I will go back. Tacos and Tequila opening Nov. 10th, right next door.

What was the price point (and value) like for a full meal? No prices on the menu online.

Do you think off-peak hours even remotely palatable from a noise perspective to enjoy the restaurant better - or perhaps are there outside seating areas with a bit less ambient noise? I have a hard time hearing conversations in crowded loud venues - am guessing I am not alone.

Thanks - DB

It’s about a dollar an ounce for beer. If you go, they have the large pretzels with dipping sauce for 18 dollars. It’s mostly bar type food though. The thing that may rub some the wrong way is that you pay a tip on the beer you pour yourself to drink.

The place is incredibly inefficient. They issue you a bar tab credit card for each dining/drinking experience instead of you just tapping your visa on a tap and pouring. That’s right, they create a middle man with your server so you can tip them at the end. Then you close the tab with your credit card lol.

We were there for lunch. I also have a hard time hearing in loud environments. It was a bit noisy but we were able to carry on a conversation. I can imagine it being loud when it gets really busy.

There is some outside seating which is protected enough that it was still dry despite the rainy day.

I don't recall the menu prices but we though they were Villages-reasonable. We each ordered the lunch special: $15 for an 11" pizza, salad, and soft drink. The two of us could have shared a single order.

I saw one sour that was $1.07/oz. Five of the seven beers we tried were in the $0.55 - $0.67/oz range.

As with every restaurant, tipping is voluntary; you only pay a tip on the beer you pour yourself to drink if you choose to.

The bill does not have separate totals for the tap wall and the food; the total includes everything. However, you get an itemized bill so you can see which charges came from which area. Don't want to leave 20% on the entire amount? Simply look for the non-tap wall items and leave 20% on those.

Great advice, don’t tip on the alcohol there! A dollar and 20 cent tip or even 2 bucks for just the 12 dollar pizza is more than reasonable. I’ll pass it on tipping not required if you are just drinking there.

I generally don't tip on items I buy that don't involve servers. The tap wall doesn't involve a server so there really is no one to tip anyway.

Not all the alcohol they serve comes from the beer wall, they also have a full bar.

I personally have a minimum tip that is a bit more than $1.50 for anyone who brings me a menu, takes my order, brings the food, clears the plates, brings the bill, and then processes my payment. If someone is considering a $1.20 tip on a $12 meal then we are not the same.

We made a quick stop there Saturday around 7:00pm, just to check it out. The place was absolutely packed, to the point you could hardly move thru the inside. Then there was the noise. OMG, the noise. The interior was so loud it made my eyes water. You would have an easier time carrying on a conversation on a carrier deck in full flight ops mode. We were finally able to get close enough to the tap wall to peruse the offerings. A little mental math (selections are priced by the ounce) showed the beers I would pour would run anywhere from $9.00 to $12.00 for a pint. That's fairly steep.

We may try another day and time. Perhaps a weekday in the afternoon. For me, Saturday night at Oak & Stone is an absolute no-go zone. I am nowhere near masochistic enough to pay premium prices to be aurally assaulted. I will say, the crowd on hand appeared to be much younger, and maybe the atmosphere was just their cup of tea. Just not mine.

So, nothing special the way it sounds. It kills me how these restaurants now days feel that they can get away charging $20 for a hamburger.

Download their app, pick location, you can see prices for all food, and tap prices per ounce. Offer a free appetizer on app, ($7&up) if you only stop once it’s worthwhile. Then delete
We have been to different locations, usually a younger crowd, because of craft beer. However this location served less beer than normal.

Our youngest knows couple of managers from bourbon classes he teaches. Once manager gets a feel of what isn’t selling the wall will change. While it is not our son’s practice to only tip food at this kind of establishment, he committed it will be the norm for older TV residents.

Definitely 75% under the age of 50, could be residents or work from home. Our village just south of 44 has more under 60 than over.
Conversation isn’t going to be a strong point, inside, try outside, it’s packed now wait until January

I don't care if their food is the best in the world. If the place is noisy, I won't go. I saw their video advertising their opening, and even in the video, you could hear the noise reverberating off the walls and windows. Definitely a place I don't care to visit.

The draw is definitely a younger crowd. If one has traveled south of 44, age can be half of say SS. The place will be packed no matter who chooses not to enter. It’s a unique experience that standing while have a conversation is the norm. Once the beer rotation changes we will return. It’s 20ish minutes from our house. We enjoy craft beer, 1-2 oz it a yes or yuck. They have 3daughters which we enjoy all that brewery offers
