Default How is this a "Golf Cart"?

Seen at Havana, yesterday.

Florida Statutes §320.01(22) defines a golf cart as: “a motor vehicle that is designed and manufactured for operation on a golf course for sporting or recreational purposes and that is not capable of exceeding speeds of 20 miles per hour.”

How can anyone possibly argue, this vehicle is "manufactured ... for sporting or recreational purposes"?

It was designed and manufactured to move people.

When was the last time you saw a vehicle like this, operating on a golf course, outside The Villages?

(Just anecdotally, but since I've been back TV on October 3rd, I've encountered 97 "4 passenger carts" while driving around (yes, I've been counting). On 4 of the 97, there have been more than (2) people in the cart.)

“Golf” cart is a misnomer. Carts are a form of transportation in TV. Don’t have to play golf. Expand your thinking.

"Golf" cart is not a misnomer. It's the law in Florida.

If it's not a "golf cart", you can't drive it on a public road. There aren't many places you can get to in TV, without driving on or across a public road.

Some carts have never been on a golf course, but are still called golf carts!

That doesn't make them a "golf cart".

Wives sometimes say their husbands are a PIA ... that doesn't make it true.

My cart has never been on a golf course, but was sold to me as a golf cart,
and just about everyone in TV would call it a golf cart.

As far as wives and husbands,
I imagine sometimes it’s a true assessment!

I saw a cart with 3 rows of seats and golf cart storage on the rear. Long as my Tacoma.

There are some tunnels that probably would be too small for that golf cart. The one by Buena Vista and the Polo Field, for instance.

Most of those 4 forward carts are much less than a Yamaha. Don’t want or need one but, check out a DACH.

The vast majority of people in these carts are doing something recreational. Like playing golf, or shopping, or going to square entertainment, or playing a sport like pickle ball, or going to a RECREATION center.

Seems to fit the overall definition of recreational purposes quite well.

Y'all are bolding and highlighting the wrong phrase. The operative phrase is "designed and manufactured for..."

Yes, that's what they were built to do. That doesn't mean it's the only thing they CAN do, and it doesn't mean it's the only thing they're ALLOWED to do.

They were designed and made to be used on golf courses. Yup - that photo depicts a vehicle that really does look like it was made for golfing. See, it even has the golf bag strapped to the back, just like every other golf cart that's actually used for playing golf!

What's even better is - because it can accommodate up to 4 people - the golf course has one less golf cart tearing up the greens.

You didn't think this through. Four seat golf carts cannot be used for 4 people playing golf.
