Angry Feral cats in The Villages

My WHITE CAT is lost and we have been walking and looking since Saturday morning, mostly in the quiet dark. In our walking about, we have been struck by the absence of feral cats. Is there a feral cat eradication program in The Villages?

If you spot a white cat, please call me or the radio station to report his location.

What a beautiful cat.
I wish you the best on your search.
perhaps the cold has the other cats hiding in a warm spot.

Default feral cats

Karen, I hope you find your kitty. I can just imagine how heartsick you are. With regard to your comment about feral cats, I want to help these poor kitties and I sincerely hope that they are not being killed. It is because of some awful people discarding their cats like rubbish that they are out there. I have a mother and two kittens in my neighborhood that I plan to trap, neuter, vaccinate and release. When they can no longer reproduce, they do no harm and simply live out their lives hiding in the bushes and drains. These cats keep the rats, mice, snakes and bugs to a minimum. I know most of the villagers love animals. If we could all take the extra effort to tnr the feral cats that they have in their neighborhood, eventually we could control the population. Lets do something good for these cats.

They "do no harm"? I'm not sure I agree. This is from USA Today:
"Cats that live in the wild or indoor pets allowed to roam outdoors kill from 1.4 billion to as many as 3.7 billion birds in the continental U.S. each year, says a new study that escalates a decades-old debate over the feline threat to native animals."
Cats kill up to 3.7B birds annually

I personally would change the name of this thread to missing cat !
You might get more people to read your post.
I almost didn't even look because so many threads have run about feral cats.

Thank you for keeping an eye out for our white cat, Caesar. We are in Hacienda Villas. Near Avenida Central and Del Mar Drive. Caesar was a farm cat and is not afraid to roam widely. He would seek out golf courses probably, and not houses.

Kitty Litter is very passionate about the humane treatment of feral cats. Animal lovers should assist her in any way possible.

Hi Kitty Litter,
i agree with your method of trap, spay and release. I have been feeding a mom and 4 of her kittens for over a month now. They are now part of my backyard family (squirrels, birds, bunnies) to the dismay of my two indoor, spoiled kitties. I tried for several weeks to use a humane trap to get the mom (Blackie) to the vet to be spayed. Blackie is way too savy; she saw one of the kittens get trapped and so would not go near that trap.
So i tried one last time this past Monday. Our appt. was on Tuesday morning. Well, the scene was funny enough to win 'First prize on America's Funniest Videos. I had taken everything off the lanai and had a white towel in one hand and a broom in the other. The trap door was open and sat in one of the corners. Well it was a combination of a 'bullfight' and a 'boxing match'. Betty the Old One vs. the Great Blackie. Well, I chased with the towel and broom and Blackie ran -around and around avoiding the trap each time. When we tired out, we retreated to our own corners (mine was a folding chair). And when we were rested, we went more rounds. Well, after 8 rounds, we were both exhausted and I decided that Blackie was the winner and loser- because I let her out to reunite with her babies, but she was so happy to be with them. It put a smile on my face. I'm happy to say, Blackie still brings her babies to my door for their meals each day- so we're still 'family' and they're still safe, for now.

Ferrel cats are NOT part of a naturally balanced ecosystem.
