Big bump for Sandra. She's fabulous - for both men and women. go to her website Golfyourbestnow.com. She has private and group lessons - packages (you'll need more than one lesson)...
She actually turned me into a good (not great) golfer...

My golf instructor is wonderful! His name is Steve Wresh and he is located out on 44, a few miles from Brownwood. He really knows his stuff, he has a wonderful sense of humor ( he needs to in order to have me as a student!), and when you leave your lesson you walk away feeling really good. I never played golf in my life until I moved here. I play a pretty consistent game and once in a while I will go back to him for a "tune up". His address and phone number is:

Steve Wresh
50 Continental Blvd
Highway 44 East
Wildwood, Fl
352-267-4707

Have fun!!

My advice would be to make sure that the person has the letters PGA or LPGA after their name, or at the very least they should an apprentice of the PGA of America.

There are a lot of so called golf pros down here. Some have taken six week courses with organization with names like the Golf Teacher's Association. I don;t know what any of that training actually entails.

PGA Professionals go through an extensive apprenticeship that last 4-6 years. many today have gone through college through the Professional Golf Management program which is a joint program run by the PGA and several colleges throughout the country. Even after finishing with a degree in golf management the aspiring professional must spend several months working in the field as an assistant or teaching professional and then take several written test before PGA status is his.

Once someone attains membership in the PGA, they must meet certain recertification and ongoing education requirements throughout their career. It is only when one retires that these requirements are dropped.

I don't think that a lot of people understand what it takes to become a PGA professional today and how they are mandated to keep up to date with all of the latest information in the golf industry.

I went to Tom Talbott, PGA Teaching Professional. He's at Arnold Palmer G.C. He is very good and has a real sense of humor. The phone number is (352) 259 - 8121 or (352) 259 - 2077.

My wife and I are new to golf and took lessons from Mike Girard from Tree Tops on Rolling Acres Rd. Very thorough training and very enjoyable experience. Tree Tops Golf

Maria Brooks at Palmer is excellent. She works with what you have instead of trying to rebuild everything from the ground up. Highly recommend her for both males and females.

Try Steve Girard at Oxford Golf Center on 301 just a half mile south of 466. Steve is the owner and a PGA professional, very caring and patient with all talent levels and ages. Does not stack up lessons back to back like some do, so you won't have the next lesson standing behind you waiting there turn. Steve will do one lesson or a series at a reduced price and his rates are very reasonable.

Let me put my vote in for Joey Hydock at Sarasota driving range. He really understands the golf swing and is a good and patient teacher.

Try me. I have taken a zillion lessons can tell you everything about balance swing, shoulder and waist turn rhythm , training techniques etc but I can't play the game for a hoot.

I can also tell you of all the training pros I used in the past Mike Girad at Tree Tops is tops. I can actually hit a straight drive now
