READY GOLF: I play Golf at least 3 to 4 times a week, mainly on the exec. courses, Sunday is my Champ. day. I am amazed at how many players do not know what the term Ready Golf" means, I have been behind foursomes, who are playing from the wrong tee for their ability, and will end up taking two shots off the tee, and still never get it close to the green, hate to say if is usually men who think they should hit off the black and can not get pass the forward tee, now we sit back and watch, as they hit several times to get on the green, Know your ability, hit from the proper tee, and enjoy the game. Stop trying to be Macho, most of you are late 60's or 70's. I was held up today on Bogart for over 15 min. a hole because the four in front were either way short or in the trap. Learn to play Ready Golf, and have a great golf game and have a fun game.

There are times when I think that some groups are in a world of their own. They could care less who is behind them or what problems they are causing.
Unfortunately, the field marshals are at a loss to make them pick up their pace. Z

I totally agree on "it's a man thing" because for some reason they think they have to hit from the black. They are directionally challenged, can't come close to the green and take forever to finish the hole. Par 4's are painful! Maybe they just want to get their money's worth?? I don't know but it's frustrating getting behind a foursome of men who think they have something to prove. I'd rather hit forward and have a good shot than hit back and have a lousy one.

Everybody enjoys their golf game their way. Social golf is not about score or how fast to play the game.
Yes there are too many that have no clue about the simple things that help the game along like ready golf. The same uninformed also do not repair ball marks on greens or sand t box divots. Add to the above the usual number that just don't care. The dumb and inconsiderate actions or lack of action is most certainly NOT gender or age relevant! In any case don't let how someone else doesn't play the game your way ruin your game......enjoy the retirement. |

As a single digit handicap I enjoy the subtleties of executive golf and have no problem with folks playing any tees they wish. Par 3's become par 4's and 5's for others. I do wish that only taking "double par" would be enforced...it's all good. |

I am for "ready golf" However, there are a number of ways to achieve that objective. I disagree with those who insist that a player should move to forward tees because I played with guys who don't hit a long ball but are good at their short game and so end up scoring better than the long ball hitter.
In the groups i play with we play Callaway golf on the executive course. Actually i won't take more than 4 strokes on an executive course so as not to slow up play. The problem is most people spend too much time chatting and not concentrating on their game when it comes to play at the executive courses i apply a live let live philosophy. I wish people would not be so judgmental about other golfers Last edited by rubicon; 05-03-2014 at 09:10 AM. |

I was with someone that didn't care how slow they were, I said we should pick it up a bit when you hit double par, the response was "I pay the same amenity fee as the folks behind me"........
I think anyone can play from where they wish, and if they hold you up tell the ambassador the issue, usually works. But then again what's the rush ![]()

I have golfed with people who get upset when I play ready golf. I'm not hitting when they are, I'm hitting when they are in their cart or looking for a club.

Our biggest problem is when we have the 11 56 tee time we make the turn at 1 30 and there are scheduled tee times b etween 1 30 and 1 56. I tell the guys to slow down a little bit and i show them on the score card we are supposed to take 2hrs and 8 minutes to play but like me they play fast. Good time to eat lunch. Wish they had a hot dog stand between nines.

Now that some golfers ate wearing seat belts it takes them much longer to unhook, hit, rehook and so on. But they arte safe from fall-outs.

From my experience, if newbie golfers would take the Good Golf School, learn to fix their divots and ball marks and about playing Ready Golf and understand 10,000 rounds a day here means "keep moving" there would be less frustration for those who are out there trying to enjoy golf as it was designed to be played. These are not mini golf courses, to mess around and not care about those behind them. This is real golf and there is etiquette which governs the game, Exec or Championship. Yes, we pay the same amentity fee, but the ones who use that excuse that they shouldn't care about proper procedure because "they pay the same fees" are the same ones, in my experience, who would not tolerate such ignorance of the rules/etiquette on the tennis court or pickleball court or even during water volleyball. Why is it that golf is the one sport they think is a "free for all and just a social outing?"

I just enjoy playing golf and have come to realize we are all not of the same skill level health and age. There are many factors that can affect how timely a round of golf will be played. I just accept it at what it is and enjoy each round with out emotion towards other golfers

Concerning the admonitions given by trainers vis a vis creates cognitive dissonance for many golfers. Golf courses want you to play fast and to maintain the course as you go along. trainers require that you focus on your set up addressing the ball, course management etc. Who you goin believe? Who you goin follow?
The play on championship courses is different than on executive courses. Far more people who want to socialize play executive courses and many ignore the rules. The slow pace of play is not from where they tee off . Just watch people who hit long but that's it they are a one trick pony In short if you are having a bad golf day just pick up the ball on executive courses and on championship courses follow the handicap rules. finally politics is pushing the play fast movement out of fear that golf is losing too many players. Ironically pushing this issue and 15 inch putting holes is going to drive more golfers away. I don't need the hassle the game of golf is already frustrating enough |
