Default Teenager taken to hospital after golf cart accident.

A 16 year old was taken to the hospital today after the golf cart she was riding in tipped over. It was being driven by another 16 year old.

It was in the CVS parkling lot at Avenida Central.

The owner of the cart lives on El Toro Drive.

Please be careful out there and tell the grands to be careful too.

You probably know where you can find the story.

How terrible. It is my biggest fear when guests come & want to drive the cart, no matter their ages.

You want to hear something creepy? The woman on the bicycle that was hit by a car on Morse a few days ago lives on El Toro. Bad week for that street.

It's actually Del Toro and they live only 10 houses apart. Eerie!

I have seen kids driving a golf cart here, obviously with their resident grandparent. It's quite unnerving, not to mention dangerous. They don't have control and weave over the cart line and must think the cart is a toy, similar to the old dogem cars in an amusement park.

I almost said something to the adult in this kind of situation one time, but stopped myself. It only would have turned into a confrontation and wasn't worth it. I will never understand the thinking of why some of the adults here think it's okay to do this.

Another case of youth, not serving itself well.

I sometimes think when riding my golf cart, that is like riding the "bumper cars" when I lived close to "Playland" in Rye NY. Then, I automatically slow down when making a sharp turn, as I know how easy it is to tip a cart.

I hope these young people are OK and when be more careful going forward.

A 16 is legally old enough to drive a car in most states.
But just because they are old enough does not mean they have the real life experience.
I hope she is ok

I don't believe this was age specific, accidents happen to all ages...
Similar thing happened to a 72 year old guy a month or so ago, he broke his pelvic...
The 16 year old will probably heal faster, and has a better chance of learning a lesson...

The insurance companies think that young drivers pose a higher risk than older drivers.

I believe the insurance companies recognize the young and the elderly are prone to a higher rate of accidents than a middle aged person.

From Progressive's website:

Younger and older drivers typically have the most car crashes, and customers of different car insurance companies have different claims experiences. When determining auto insurance rates, insurers generally consider a variety of information about you, including age, vehicle information, claims history and the claims experience of other customers like you.

And insurance rates reflect your accurate comment.

The proof is in the pudding. My insurance rates have been declining for years (with the car age and value taken into consideration). And the rate for my 16 yo granddaughter is almost twice that of the combined rate for my wife and me (and our two cars and golf cart).

I witnessed a 16 yr old (a few wks back) driving a golf cart in front of me with his Grandpa in the passenger seat. The 16 yr old made a VERY sharp turn, hitting the gas at the same time, flipping the cart.. All were ok, I jumped out of my car and assisted them in getting out of the cart. Be careful out there and don't take the cart lightly - must take it EAZZZZZY !
