Default Any German restaurants in TV

Are there any good German restaurants or deli's in TV or nearby? We live in Chicago and my husband loves German food. He's concerned he won't find any good places for brats in the area.

German food and liquor store with a good selection of wines are his concerns. We love Spanish, Argentinian, Chilean, and other good wines. I know it will drive him crazy if he cannot find a place with a good selection of wines.

Thank you,

Pili

Not in TV but if you take 466A to 441 (Fruitland Park) and take a right .. less than 1 mile on 441 on the right you will see the DINNER BELL. Not a fancy place but it has some decent german Food and beer and is reasonable. .

Pili,

On Tuesday nights the Orange Blossom resteraunt in the "Historic" section of TV has excellent German food. It is their German night and they do a great job of it! It usually is very crowded that night so you may need a reservation.

Believe it or not Publix grocery store has a very large selection of good wines, there is also a large and very complete liquor store in the publix shopping plaza in Spanish Springs.

Truth is, you can find almost anything your heart desires in "the Villages"! ;D

Nonie:

Check out the wine selection in Albertson's.

Up until about 4 or 5 years ago, the only wine available in TV was Mogen David or Boone's Farm. Local TV selections have improved greatly but still are a few years behind what we have in the local supermarkets in Calif.

The Dinner Bell restaurant in Fruitland Park south of the Villages on 27/441 has a very small selection of German foods on their menu. What we've had there is not bad for such a small place. Do miss the atmosphere tho of a good ethnic restaurant.

Obviously if your husband likes German food you have tried and hopefully perfected the the correct receipe.
Once you get settled you can invite all the participants of this thread (NOTICE: I Limited the participation) to a pot luck German dinner and we can all share in what we know best!
I personally will bring the beer!!!

Anyone notice that there is a post about German restaurants right in the middle of several queries about where the Geckos went? I'd like to state right now that I lived in Germany for almost 10 years and ate at a lot of different German restaurants. There was some weird stuff sometimes, but I never once saw Gecko or any other lizard on the menu. Horse maybe, but no Geckos.

784 Caroline and others,

The idea of a pot luck German dinner sounds delicious. That said, I must admit I don't know how to cook German food (other than brats). We have traveled to Germany a lot and like the food. My husband is of German ancestry so he loves German food. He was concerned he wouldn't find a restaurant or deli (for brats) in TV area. We'll keep in mind the offer.

Brats are a are start..Im sure there are more adventuresome people out there that can cook the more exotic stuff we all know about and "love". Like I said "Pot luck" ......sounds like a fall get together when everyone will be around!!
