Since it's a buyer's market now, I'm considering not waiting until my Oregon home sells before buying into TV, and hiring someone to do the weekly house-check until I'm able to relocate. The question is...... location, location, location....... which Village to look in ?
I want to be able to walk to the community swimming pool! I want to live within one mile of shopping and services. I'd like to be near the learning center school. I'd like to be within one or two miles from a town square. I'm fussy about noise so not near the choo-choo train, please. My preference is for a 3/2 and I want it to be CBS instead of frame built; and I'd prefer to have fulltime neighbors (but have no control over that). I know the most logical thing to do is visit TV for the preview and I plan on doing that some time this coming winter (or sooner if I see a good deal); but in the meantime....... I'm asking ...... which Village would best suit my needs?

Hadley of course, On Havana Trail. The Odell pool is fifty feet from my back door. We just bought last month. The house next door was still for sale when we left last week!

A lot would depend what shops you want to be near. You could be in Belvedere, Bonnybrook or Tall Trees for the Learning Center and the Southern Trace shops. However, you'd be a few miles from LSL. Not sure what pool is in Belvedere. Southern Trace and Glenbrook would also meet most of your criteria but put you a tad further from LSL but closer to the Polo Fields and Savannah Center. This means a pre-owned home.
The newer villages would be a few miles from most of your requirements. However, nothing is really far in TV. I can get from the historic side to Hadley in less than 15 minutes driving a car.

![]() Summerhill and Polo Ridge, Sumter Cty are between the polo field and Southern Trace Plaza and quite handy to the metropolis on Rte 466, including the Learning College. I'd figure that this section is in the middle of the complete complex and an easy golfcart ride to stores, medical offices, developer offices and restaurants. We live in Polo Ridge and love it's convenient location to all of our needs. ....barb

Hmmm.......
Perhaps a resume, a list of the recipies you would prepare for block parties, those kind of things would help in providing the advice you seek. Depending on the responses, I may be able to recommend Village of Amelia. Otherwise, there are plenty of others. (LOL).... |

I like the idea that I read elsewhere. They got the Villages map and drew a circle around the town square that they wanted to be near and then told the rep to find a house within that circle. That will mean a resale since the new houses are now approaching 466A. But remember that any area you move into will meet some of the requirements but not others. I'd recommend a preview visit or maybe even a monthly rental and drive around (in the golf cart preferrably) everywhere. I'm sure that you'll come across a home that just screams CIB!

OK, OK....... I'm lazy ........ I really wanna live within a mile from my favorite activities and that will be = the Learning Center, the Fitness Center with Indoor Pool, either Town Square and be able to walk to any community pool & recreation center. Right now I live in a small rural town and have to drive 10 miles to Grants Pass for real civilization (better stores & restaurants) and I'm tired of all that daily driving!
My map doesn't show where the TV school & fitness center are, nor does it show where the health food supermarket is (SweetBay?) or where whatever store is located. I sure wish someone would create a map with everything on it ! THANKS for all the recommendations, so far; I'm taking notes & researching the resale listings ;D

A couple of points CIB.
Sweetbay is just a regular supermarket (in the Hannaford's chain) although I do like their selection of healthier products. Not a true 'health store'. As mentioned the only indoor pool is near the Hospital which is close to SS but 5 miles away or so from the high school which is where the learning center classes take place. As far as walk to a pool goes you could figure that out once you determine which neighborhood you'd like then buy a house in that neighborhood that is near the neighborhood pool. I can think of at least 10 villages that would fit your requirements if you leave out the proximity to the wellness center's indoor pool. I don't have my map with me but I'll fill those names out later. |

I agree with Russ. If you remove the Fitness Center and the Learning Center from your criteria, you will find lots of villages that will fit the remaining criteria.

CIB - I forgot to mention that Sweetbay is right near LSL.

You also have to consider the fact that not all classes are held at the Learning Center. Many are held in the rec centers.
It really will be much easier to make your decision once you are here. I don't normally recommend that people rent a golf cart for a visit, but I think you should. It will give you a better idea how easy it is to get around TV and how enjoyable "commuting" by golf cart is.

I think you need an official VILLAGES map, only obtained here. This I can't figure out, as generous as they are they do not send maps in the material you get. They cost five dollars and you can get them at the sales center, or maybe order one from the site. I think it has the schools on it and I know The Savannah Center. It was the single most valuable thing we had in our orientation and getting around and understanding just where everything is.

It seems that the Historic Side would meet most of your needs. It is only a mile to the Wellness Center and a 10 min walk to Spanish Springs and walk to pools and a walk to Orange Blossom Hills CC which has a terrific pool and Tiki Bar. That willage is Village of Country Club Hills. Do you all agree that this village might work and fit most requirements?
