So I have Comcast Blast only [no cable tv] and I'm paying $49/month. And I'm renting a router for another $10. That's probably a bad idea too.

The most demanding, fastest thing I do is watch Netflix.

If you have a better deal, different provider I will be happy to drop Comcast.

I probably don't need all the speed I am paying for already. If you have a better deal how much does it cost and how fast is the speed.

Centurylink-when we moved to the villages--comcast wast the only company that ever charged us for installation & to make things worse we were in a brand new pre-wired house--dumped them after 2 months

Do you know how fast century link is and how much it costs?

I pay about $47/month for Century Link (fiber to the house) for 40 Mbits/sec download and 20 MBits/sec upload. This includes all taxes/fee and the router lease. They have different tiers of service, give them a call to find out what is available - I would not trust the website.

Comcast also includes xfinity that is supposed to provide data to your phone. The person in the store said their hotspots are all over but maybe not on a country toad in a mountain.

I wonder how "ALL OVER" it really is.

The person also told me I can contact the Comcast Loyalty Department and possibly get the price down to 39 for internet and 10 for the router. This is about what you are paying.

If you buy a router,$49 a month is not bad.Your only choices north of 466a is Comcast and CenturyLink.If you switch to CenturyLink make sure you have broadband and not DSL.Netflix will buffer with DSL.I recently switched from CenturyLink DSL to Comcast.I went with CenturyLink because of price but at the end of the promotion they wanted alot more for DSL than Comcast .Comcast is much better.

Comcast is not without its blemishes. However it has seamless coverage for TV, Phone and Internet.

This issue keeps raising its ugly head and posters should explain their objective price, speed access, etc?

Your options are about as good as they get - Comcast, BrightHouse, Dish, etc. I believe anything available in TV is on your list.

I went online and could not find a Brighthouse quote for 105 Mbps. Does anyone have one?

If Netflix is the most demanding thing you do then you can get by with a surprisingly low amount of download bandwidth. Netflix is adaptive: it will adjust the resolution of the image it sends based on the available bandwidth. You only need about 3-5 MBits/sec for Hi-Def (720 or 1080p). More available bandwidth will not improve the picture image. Less will result in Standard-Def (480p or less). A 10 Mbit/sec download service will be sufficient to watch Netflix in Hi-Def on 2 sets at the same time. I have done that in the past.

You have 105+ Mbps Xfinity Internet @ $49 and you want to switch? I'd say you're doing well. You won't find a faster more reliable ISP in The Villages.

I'd return that leased modem and buy your own. It will pay for itself in less than a year.
