Default The Concept Of Time

With all the unhappiness and division circling the globe thought perhaps a subject we could all coalesce around might be inviting.

Time can be friend or foe. Time can measure so many variations. The concept of time and its application in one's life offers unique perceptions and it would be nice to hear what they are. I'll start. When I hear the word "time"one of my thoughts goes to Rod Stewart's rendition of "Time after time I tell myself I am so lucky to be loving you................. because it one of my wife's favorites.

Interesting for me to see the start of a discussion about the word time. Today is my 75th birthday, my first thought when I woke up was where has all the time gone. Next thought was get up, time's a wasting! Today is a day of reflection and excitement for me.......what have I done with all my time for the last 75 years and what will I do with my time that is left?

Time stands still is the phrase.

It's when we are still, whether caught up in bliss, engaged in a piece of art or in meditative/prayer practice that the concept of time disappears. Behind all thoughts I am.

Good morning. What a thoughtful and beautiful topic, rubicon. Thank you. I want to say happy, happy birthday to Mudder. Enjoy today. Also, HimandMe, you've given me confirmation on some of the thoughts of Thomas Merton I've been reading and pondering very recently. Thank you. Beautifully said.

There's a quote that found it's way in my mind many, many years ago and I don't know how it got there or who said it, but it found a home with me: Time and place are our own limitations. We must not impose them on God.

I hope my thoughts coalesce with what you had in mind, rubicon.

A profound and provocative post. Our perception of time has changed dramatically, as well, as we have aged, especially in the last few years. The seeming hopelessness of today's world has narrowed our focus to the microcosm that exists immediately around us and our family. This has made time for us virtually irrelevant. We aren't really connected to anything time-critical, so it's as if time doesn't exist for us. We believe it's God's way of protecting us as we enter our final stage of life together, in preparation for our passing. It's not a negative thing...it just is.

Time is irrelevant. There is no such thing as present time. Anything you see or observe right now is already in the past. Future time exists only in the imagination.

my views of time change according to my moods....when i look in the mirror i see "the ravages of time", but when i look back on the painful experiences of my life i remember that "time heals all wounds". so i try to befriend time and make the most of it...it will march on long after i am gone, after all.

We live our years as we live our days. When we waste time, we waste our lives. Having said that, I am going to turn this computer off.

"Time after Time" by Cindy Lauper. Things good and bad seem to repeat time after time and we never seem to learn from them.

I have always been so conscious of time and because of that fact whenever some one does something for me I always thank them for their time because time is so valuable and so unbankable.
