Default Is this what we want as sidelines?

Is this what we want to see as sidelines in a few years? I wouldn't hope so. This stripe is in TV and it is about 3y/o.

Pretty, huh? Just a few I think really want them but be careful what you wish for! The safety engineer said NO---but some people already made up their minds about spending somebody's money. Enough said.

For the life of me, I can't see any possible benefit in having these stripes or spending this money.

Right you are! Why did we pay a boatful of money to the consultant when we made up our minds already? What a waste of money.

That's because the county is responsible for those lines. That's government maintenance. Never enough money to do the job, and they always need more to do the job. The developer and the district reps WILL maintain the MMP lines. I'm not justifying these lines. I'm just saying they will be maintained.

Obviously the Consultants were supposed to give an expert opinion to support the mindset already in place.
When that didn't happen, the experts' recommendations were ignored.

Its always easier to spend someone else's money even on things someone else doesn't want. That's how governing bodies claim they are getting things done.

Has the Developer offered to pay for the maintenance? I haven't heard that the Developer would help pay for anything.

The Developer certainly could have stripped the MMP'S when they were built but apparently didn't believe it to be necessary. Perhaps he followed the advice of an Engineer.

When did the Developer get involved?

I don't keep up on scheduled meeting when decision about spending big money are the topic ( to me anything over 100k big money, but We managed and worked hard for what We got) Per attendants by comments I think few do?

IMO (now this is MY OPINION) I think voting boxes should be set up at the districts and you show your id ( proof your in the district) and allowed to vote in time frame. This IMO would be more accurate opinion poll. Then they could say well the majority voted for it ( I also think 65 % or so would be majority)

It is my understanding that we are footing the installation cost, AND the maintenance costs going forward, forever.......

Waste of funds that could be used elsewhere.

Years ago, I put on a huge birthday party for Deanna. My daughter was in charge of menu, etc. etc. My point is the same point my daughter made.....when I thanked my daughter, she laughed and claimed "Dad, it's always easy to spend someone else's money." It seems like the stripes are like government spending money to protect ourselves from each other. How about a vote, full timers and snow birds like us who pay taxes?

I would like for our elected supervisors to maintain and preserve what we have in The Villages, not look for new ways to spend district funds. It is clean, relatively safe, and beautiful here. That's why we chose to leave our hometowns and families and make this our new home.
