Desmond Harris of Covenant Janitorial will do just what you are asking for a very reasonable price. If you provide the batteries, he will change the batteries in the smoke alarms at no extra cost. He can be reached at 352-308-9243.

Default Covenant Janitorial

I second the recommendation for Desmond Harris at Covenant Janitorial. He and his team are very professional, prompt and work quickly to get the job done. The costs are low and reasonable. He gave us a magnet to put on our refrigerator as a reminder for our next dryer vent cleaning. Great job!!!

Or you can just call The Villages Fire Department and they do it for free, too.

To those new to living year around with all this humid air, it is very wise to have your dryer vent cleaned out.

Our fairly new dryer was not drying clothes in it's usual manner, taking longer than usual. My husband did his usual detach the back and do the sweeper thing and cleaned into the vent as usual. But after having read this forum I insisted that we find a dryer vent cleaner.

This gentleman climbed on the roof and removed a BUNCH of hardened dried up lint. I mean solid yucky stuff.

Since then the dryer works fine, but I made a mental note to see that this task is done ....maybe yearly. And I bet it has been a year now. Time flies here.

Default Close call

My wife mentioned to me that our dryer was not working properly this past January. I brushed it off as I do with many household issues. My lack of action almost cost us big time. I have cleaned the dryer vent from the interior of the dryer thru the 12 feet of pipe to the outside vent, I also have a device in the pipe which advances the lint and also reduces the size of the lint before blowing it outside. It appeared my every other year cleaning approach served us well until the day I got the call to get downstairs fast. I am disabled and nothing is fast anymore. The dryer had caught on FIRE. Thankfully I put the fire out. In the Yellow Pages under vent cleaning I found a company called Duct Dudes. The machine this man used to do the job was impressive, the truck had a series of 8 large bags that inflated and sucked the lint from places inside the dryer that it is impossible for anyone to get to. The point....get a pro...cost about $100 and worth every penny. Already made our appointment for next year. I'm in N.J. and am waiting for the green light to move south...should be happening shortly. I would love to be an asset to our fellow Villagers and this is a small but good start. Take Care.
